You should be able to get muggage lables at the check in/bag drop desk.
You could try phoning FC and asking for some.
They have stopped sending them out as the norm.

lol @ muggage labels. It sounds like something off Harry Potter :rotfl:

To be perfectly honest, I don't tend to bother with airline luggage labels anymore... I just have/buy some nice leather/plastic ones - they are more robust than the paper/card airline ones (so less likely to get torn off your bags). Also if you choose luggage tags that are "distinctive", can help identify your luggage onb the carasel...

same here :thumbsup2

I made my own 'Disney-fied' ones from one of our previous trip photos and laminated them. A set for outbound and a set for the return :)

All luggage is barcoded now and you get your reciept stuck to your ticket or passport so labels are not needed. I always put a sheet inside with my details on just incase airline system fails.

I also made my own and laminated them :goodvibes , even if we did have distinctive PINK suitcases :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks obi I knew you would crack a joke. There is no point in me correcting this one now:lmao:
Obi what planes do fly from manchester and which are the oldest. We have flown 3 times from manchester now and have always had either jersey girl or Barbarella.I have read a couple of trip reports with one plane called pretty woman and the other was Hot lips. The latter having a beige interior not the usual red and blue virgin use.Just wondered as always seem to get the same 2.I know barbarella has been around a while now(not that I am knocking het:laughing: )

Thanks guys.I think I will have ago at making some of my own.Don't fancy filling out some at the airport-will just put them on the case so at least it shows virgin flight

It is always a good idea to have good identification on cases - incase they get lost (which is not that uncommon :sad2: ). It is normally a good idea to have the ID on the outside because then no-one has (the excuse) to open your cases to Identify who they belong to (especially if you use any form of locks or mechanism to lock them - they would have to cut those off to get into your cases).

The bar-coded labels that they stick on all bags are great, but that system can also go wrong: it is not unknown for agents to put the wrong barcode on your bag (I know this because it had happened to me  ). In which case your bag often ends up going to the wrong destination and has the wrong name bar-coded onto it

For that reason, it is always good to have some CLEAR Identification on the outside of your checked luggage. Of course many suggest that you do not have your home address on the tags - since people have been known to use this information to tell them where empty houses are...

I like the idea of doing your own "custom" Disney tags - distinctive and fun :thumbsup2

yeah maybe your right Alice but I take 16-20 flights a year Only with my own personal identification marks so I know which are my cases, never had a problem yet, I guess the day one goes missing I will start putting luggage tags on:goodvibes

Lucky you! :thumbsup2 Over the past 7 years (probably an average of about 20 flights a year, like you), we have had 3 checked bags go missing :sad2:

After the "incorrect barcoding" event, I now also carefully check the barcode tags put on the cases before they disappear down the conveyor belt (I check that name and final destination are correct). I also check the luggage receipts that we are given too.

Ah, "belt and braces travel".... also called "learning the hard way by the things that happen to you" . One day I will eventually have a system of "foolproof travel" for myself :)

The Manchester 747's rotate with the flights from gatwick, i.e. the same planes are used at gatwick and manchester.
The majority of them are actually the youngest 747's in the Virgin fleet, being a cancelled order for Alitalia which they picked up cheap (thats why they have the awful NOVA IFE, it was specified by Alitalia)
These planes are:
G-VAST (Ladybird) delivered 17/06/1997 Reconfigured ex LHR plane Odyssey IFE
G-VGAL (Jersey Girl) Delivered 26/04/2001 Nova IFE
G-VLIP (Hot Lips) Del 15/05/2001 Nova IFE
G-VROM (Barbarella) Del. 29/05/2001 in new cabin colours Nova IFE
G-VROS (English Rose) Del. 22/03/2001 Nova IFE
G-VROY (Pretty Woman) Del. 18/06/2001 New Cabin Colours Nova IFE
G-VTOP (Virginia Plain) Del. 28/01/1997, ex LHR aircraft, reconfigured with new cabin colours Odyssey IFE
G-VXLG (Ruby Tuesday) Del. 30/09/1998 recon LHR Odyssey IFE.

they all take turns at Manchester depending on the schedule.
During next year these planes will have the new PE seats (and possibly the new Economy) fitted, so the schedule might mean that a LHR configured aircraft will carry out flights whilst one is in for refit.

We got the KLM ones where you put your own photo on. So have one of me and the boys :goodvibes (dh not on it!!!)
