For MHP Do you HAVE to wear a costume? We are down there for the Oct 5 party and no am having second thoughts about going. Everyone says the fireworks are worth the extra admission and DW and I don't like dressing up for halloween. Would I be kicking myself for not going since this would be our only time to experience it.

Also How does tickets work? Buy them online then then ship to you, e-ticket?:confused3

Thanks

You don't have to wear a costume to go to the MHP parties or go trick or treating. I am going to the Oct 5th party, but wasn't planning on dressing up until I found a Canucks hat and jersey cheap at a store that was closing down. Just a simple t shirt would do. You can dress up as little or a much as you want, there is no mandatory dress code for this event. By the way we picked up our 1952 Chevy firetruck out of Metchosen, in Feb, so we're unofficially bucket heads too. It was the Willis Point VFD old pumper truck that we bought. We are having alot of fun bringing it to car shows and are slowly restoring it to it's former glory. I bought my ticket's online, and had an e-ticket emailed to me. It was simple and easy. The cost of shipping the tickets to Canada is $25USD, so it's cheaper to buy them online, and get the e-ticket. You get the e-ticket fairly quickly after you purchase the tickets maybe 10 to 15 mins at the most, so it's a quick and easy way of purchasing tickets online. I'm going to the Oct 5 and Oct 8 MHP, so I might see you there. You take the e-ticket directly to the turnstiles, and they will give you your tickets to the event, as well as other info for the event. Look for the Gal decked out in Canucks gear. Have a great day!

You don't have to wear a costume if you don't want to. I asked this question several months ago when I first started thinking about getting tickets. I also don't like dressing up or any of that stuff, but I wanted to experience the rest of it.

I was told that a lot of people don't wear costumes, so you won't feel awkward not wearing one either.

I am going to the Oct 5th party too! Hope you have an amazing time!

We have never been, but I know that costumes are optional, for adults and children. I was talking to a woman recently who was raving about last year's event. I commented that I wasn't sure if we were that interested in the Halloween party because I didn't think the kids would care about dressing up. She told me that lots of people don't dress up but just go for the experience. She herself dressed up a little, but her 5-year old daughter and her husband didn't, but that doesn't stop you from trick-or-treating or enjoying any of the other offerings.

I'm thinking i'd like to find some Mickey (not Minnie) ears in headband form to wear around so I don't feel totally out of place!

Thanks for the quick replies, you have made my mind up that I will be getting those tickets and going to the party. I don't think my boss would allow me to take my gear down...hahaha.

Belledozer where in BC are you from? I am just around the corner from Metchosin.

I live in Richmond, BC. In Feb someone from the Stovebolter page (I know I'm not supposed to mention other sites on this page, but that's where we found the link to the firetruck, and no plugs for this site are intended in anyway). Someone from the forum found it on UsedVictoria, and thought some of the members of the forum might be interested in the truck, even though that person wasn't. My DH asked for pics, and since they looked good, decided that a road trip was in order to check it out. We had my mom take care of the kids, and went to check it out on Feb 27th. We fell in love with it, and DH drove it home that day. We've been slowly getting parts, and gear for it since, and is an ongoing work in progress. It runs, and it can be contankerous on cold starts. The story on it was that it was a Butler bros gravel truck for the first 2 years of it's life before the Saanich fire dept converted it to a pumper truck. They had it till 1977, when they sold it to the Will Point VFD, who used it till around 1993/1994. It was then decommissioned, and went into private ownership till we bought it. We love the old girl and have a menagerie of old and odd vehicles in our collection that are in various states of work. Consider us Canadian Rednecks. Have a great day!

It's the one time that adults can actually wear costumes in the park, but it is not required at all. It is fun to see, but you are definitely not in the minority if you don't wear a costume. It is popular for the kids to wear their Halloween costumes though.

the first year we did the ToT Party DBF and I were going to be Mouseketeers but I ran out of time to make our shirts so instead we just didn't dress up. The girls did and had a great time but we did not. You will be fine without a costume but if you decide to do something you could always be as simple as grabbing some ears or silly hats and wearing those. :)
