I have the small .15 plastic (not the round metal container) tubes of Burts Beeswax Lip Balm. Love the stuff!! Can I carry that on with me or will I have to check it?

If it's a solid like chapstick, fine. If it's a soft gel like Bigelow's in a small tub, then not fine.

I reread your post because I am still not clear on what you mean - if it's in a plastic container and comes out in a gel, like the green ones from Bath and Bodyworks, no - that's a gel.

Just take a chapstick type stick and check the rest and you'll be fine.

But if it's in a little round tub, like Carmax, then they won't allow it. I read the requirements for that and it sounds like anything solid in a tube will be allowed, but not something that you can open, place your finger in and swirl it around to get it on your finger to put on your lips.

I have a friend who is never without a pot of carmex. She asked at the airport and they said it was no problem to carry on - YMMV

That's an excellent statement, shelly - YMMV. According to another post here somewhere, a passenger asked a TSA agent who refused an item that's not specifically banned per the list on the website and was told it's at the discretion of the agent.

Put it in your pocket and you will be fine as long as it doesnt set off the metal detector, I just got back from a trip to California and had some rewetting drops in my pocket. I also saw people bring water and coffee on the plane, once they saw it and told him he wasn't supposed to have it but let him keep it, the guy with the starbucks walked by the flight attendants, and after he got to his seat went up to them and told them he didnt mean to bring it.
The whole liquid thing is ridiculous, if a bad guy wanted to bring it aboard all he would have to do is put it in a ziploc and tape it to his body. no one actually fisks you when you go through security. the whole thing is stupid. by the way this is disfanrn's husband.
