If you don't have one you need to buy one. They are wonderful. Recently I bought a friend one for her first "apartment". She & her roomies love it. I love the fact that you don't burn yourself through a towel and that it will not catch on fire! Tonight a kitchen towel was right beside of my oven so I decided to use it real quick to take something out of the oven. Well a corner must have been hanging down that I didn't notice and it touched the element. Flames were next! Boy did they come quick. I am very thankful that I didn't panic or anything.

This was my reminder to always use the silicone oven mitt. I will not make the mistake of using anything else again.

If you think they are too expensive keep an eye on the "As Is" area of Bed, Bath & Beyond. I bought mine there for 1/2 price because of a small tear from the hanging hole. I bought my friend's just last month at 1/2 price because the "packaging" was missing. The "packaging" was only a tag. Hey, I sure didn't mind only paying 1/2 price for it!

I have silicone mats, they are great too. I use them for trivets, for taking hot dishes out of the oven, and most importantly, I use them for a gripper when I can't open a jar!! :rotfl:

Why did someone not invent them sooner? I have convinced everyone I work with and all my family to get them as well.
