Silhouette Info Needed

I seem to recall that there were kiosks that had artists cutting out silhouettes. Has anyone had this done and where? Did it turn out nicely? How long did it take and what were the prices?

We have been sitting for the silhouettes every trip for many, many years - they are my favorite souvenir and I love seeing how the kids have changed and grown up and seeing the different hair cuts, hats, etc. Now I'm having them done of my grandkids - got DGrD done at 5 mos! In Dec we had them done on the side of the Xmas shop in MK - it took about 10 mins each beginning to end and the CM there did a fabulous job- even let me keep my Xmas ears on and they look great in the silhouette! I know you get two copies mounted on heavy board for less then $10 - probably more like $7 or $8. You can buy frames for extra. There used to be a stand down on Main St , but now sure if it's still there.

There is still a stand off of Main St. down the little road that is just like a cul de sac. I think it's right next to the kitchen store on Main St. We had our boys' silhouettes done in Oct. The guy was so fast- it was amazing. It was probably our best souvenir the entire trip. They looked exactly like them. We paid $32 total for both boys with the frames. He actually gave us two of each boy. When he cuts it, it automatically makes a duplicate. I'd highly recommend it!

I am so glad someone mentioned this, I may not have known about it otherwise! I will defiently be on the lookout for this! Does anyone know if they have the service like the stores do, to deliver it to your dis resort?

We had our last two done in Liberty Square and they delivered them to our room. We have them done every trip and they are by far my favorite souveiner. I suggest you buy the frame. It is much harder than you might think to find an oval frame. I only have one child so I can't answer how they would do three children.

When we had ours done on our first trip in 2001, we copied them onto card stock for our Xmas cards that year and put our own little greeting inside - it was a hit! People still talk about it and some have even framed theirs - nice change from the usual family photo! It is a must do for our second trip in November! I would definitely get the frame, too. Thanks for starting the thread -I forgot where we had ours done - I'm curious as to how much it costs now - I think it was about $28 for the 4 of us last time, but I'm not sure.

we also have them done everytime and we have had them done at just about all the different carts if you have them done in Downtown Disney you get 3 copies instead of 2 and it is the same price we keep one and give each of our parents one this is the first time we had the kids picture engraved in glass in epcot we also had the date put on it and the price was only $70 dollars and that was for 3 copies you pay for the 1st full price and the rest or half price which i did not think was a bad price you can also put a light in it i will try to take some pics of them and post them later today

I will try to post a picture later, but we got ours done off main street about a month ago and it was $7 (each)and she gave us 2 copies of each boy and then we added the frame for $6.95 each. Great deal and it's amazing to watch them do it!! I commented on it and she said she went to 4 years of art school. Of course I could go to 10 years of art school and still not be able to look at the side of someone's face and cut it out of paper.

Can you tell me more about the engraved glass pics - where were they done in Epcot?

they had it at EPCOT it was at the Imation ride after the ride when you get to play with the cameras and the computers and doctor up the pictures we got the cheaper one but it came out good you can also get a 3d one and you can see all sides of them but we had them write Walt Disney World and the Date on it with my 2 kids pictures and i think it is one on the best souviners we have ever bought and i have been about 30 times in the last 10 years

The children actually sit individually and then she puts them together at the end. We had our girls silouhette done two weeks ago at Downtown Disney. It was 28.00. Twenty for the kids and 8.00 for the frame. We got three copies for that price. We were very pleased with the pic.

i forgot about this! my mom has 3, one from each of our family vacations..... the first one has my 2 kids in it (my sister and I, youngest Sis wasn't born yet) and the last two have 3 kids in them (both my sisters and I). the last time was in oct 1999 and we got in done in Downtown Disney, but that's all I remember. they always came out great and are great souveniers... im going in may and i think i want one done again (DBF and I)
