silhouette cameo

Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if any of you have any experience using a Silhouette cameo? It seems like a better product vs. a Cricut or Cuttlebug. I just started scrapbooking and would like to branch out to other paper crafts (cards, cupcake holders etc.) and maybe some vinyl stuff in the future.

My birthday is coming up in a month and my boyfriend asked me what I wanted and I mentioned this and was wondering if it is a good product to buy. Do they come out with new models like Ipads all the time? I was going to ask for one for Christmas but my birthday is much sooner, however I don't want him to spend a ton of money and then the product will be outdated 6 months later.

Any thoughts on this product would be appreciated, thanks!

Go over to the scrapbooking side of the Creative Community and I bet you will get more feedback, but I have one and LOVE it...so much more than my Cricut. If I didn't have thousands of dollars wrapped up in my Cricut, I would get rid of it. But I love my Cameo, so worth it. Watch Oh My Crafts, I got mine for like $215 shipped. One thing to think about, most people also get software to use with their Cameo, I got Make The Cut, which was like $60, but you can do so much with it.

I own Cricut and a Cameo and I can honestly say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Cameo THAT much more than my Cricuts! So much better and the fact that I can print and cut my Disney characters (which is why I had originally purchased the Cricut Imagine and it NEVER could do that!). Hope this helps you!

Oh and definitely be on the lookout for coupons, I purchased mine for about $215 with shipping from Oh My Crafts.

I don't have a Cameo, but do have the SD version and LOVE it! I have a Cricut as well, and will probably sell it once I have done all the cuts I need from my Disney cartridges. FYI, there is a designer in the Silhouette store that is now doing Disney inspired cuts! The one's she has done so far are great. I can't remember her name, but search for monorail and she will pop up!

I have the Silhouette SD. I am totally in love with it. I am able to download inexpensive images within seconds of deciding to make something (as opposed to going to the store to buy an expensive cartridge). and I can do all of it in my pajamas! (which is frowned upon at most craft stores)

So, did you get one?

I'm told there is way to use svg/inkscape files with it
