Significant Change in Stateroom Availability

I recently saw some good advice from someone on this board about going into the Costco travel site to view available staterooms. I have a VGT reservation in March 2022 and am curious about what is available. For the past month, there has not been any inside or ocean view rooms available. There were a significant number of balcony staterooms available on each deck. Today, there are now ocean view staterooms available and very few balcony staterooms available (maybe 12 total on the whole ship, on only 2 decks). Does anyone know what could have happened? I have not been assigned my VGT yet, so it does not seem they assigned all the guaranteed rooms in bulk. Just curious. Thanks!

They are probably finalizing room assignments for your cruise. Many have reported that, since the COVID restart, they received an upgrade from regular oceanview and inside booking to a verandah room at DCL's initiative. While DCL has never published anything on that subject, it is believed they are doing so to spread guests evenly across stateroom hosts, while freeing up lower class staterooms for quarantining needs.

I agree with PP. i noticed that availability changed for our cruise last night, and people in my group are posting that they’ve been upgraded from their GTY bookings. It almost makes me sad I picked our OV rooms.

Don't be sad- it isn't that common to be upgraded. I've booked GT twice since reopening, and both times I was assigned probably the worst stateroom available in my category. Enjoy your nice OV stateroom.

Thanks. We reserved the 8a room on deck 5 with two port holes and the mini suite layout. I’d actually be a little sad if we got moved.

Which cruise are you on? I am on the Fantasy 3/26 sailing and that sounds like the availability I’ve been seeing although I just got my room assignment on Thursday afternoon.

Did you get cabins near each other? I’ve got 2 GTY on Dream coming up. I’d prefer rooms close together over an upgrade.

That’s basically the best room on the ship. Won’t ever sail in any other room on the Dream class!

There are also 8a rooms on deck 6, but they don’t have the half wall mini suite layout.

I am on the 3/18/22 Dream 3-night. My room assignment was there this morning. It must have come through late yesterday. It was not one of those room I saw on Costco as still available, so they must have blocked them all out and were just making their way through assigning them out.

Which room did you get? I checked Costco after reading this thread but it wasn’t showing any ocean view rooms other than the family rooms. The regular ocean on my cruise aren’t available for booking.
