I actually am looking forward to it at FW. :) The poll on my site was for my next walk and tour - Segway is leading, so I wanted to do it at FW and not Epcot! I was told the FW tour is only in the test phase.

Very Cool ... you may the the 1st person on the board to check out the FW tour. This is already implied, but please make sure to post a detailed review/description ASAP :thumbsup2

I'm a vet of the Epcot tour, and I'm curious how the FW trial works

I am not supposed to publish my website info anymore, but I'll probably have 50 - 100 photos there, with a review Friday night. I promise to post something about it here too!

Why can't you post anymore. Is that something you decided or Disney?

One moderator here decided for me. :) They said it was for profit (which it definitely isn't - I'm in no danger of making money anytime in the near future - just spending all I have!). I am going to post on the front of my site tonight about that - in a generic sort of way (about where the site is or isn't headed - which pretty much, I don't know past the end of this year yet).

I was told I could appeal, but it sounded like more of a headache than anything.

I am debating also doing the Segway tour at CA Adventure, which isn't too badly priced - but I've already two tours booked out there (Walk in Walts Footsteps and the Universal VIP tour). I need to make sure I don't overspend out there!

That's too bad about your site Denise. Unfortunately the owners of different sites have to have moderators when the site get's too large for them to keep up with it all.

I've seen some pretty stupid reasons to either erase a post or close down a thread. If somebody has something to say I thought that was the reason for these boards. Hence the phrase "discussion". I can see if somebody was cursing or making a threat but if it's being discussed leave it alone. I almost hate to see when moderators post a reply because I'm thinking it's going to be a message why they closed the thread. Just my .02.

There are times it's appropriate to close a thread, though sometimes it feels like something is left unsaid. I like to resolve conflicts, it's hard when they get cut off before everything is righted.

It was only one moderator who asked me to remove the links. Other mods have been fine with it I haven't felt ready to accept any sort of sponsors and nothing has been decided about the site at all past around November (it's only 2 months old!) I definitely am making no money, but I am spending it!

Anyway - 3 more days and I'll be wheeling around Fort Wilderness (staying on topic!)

Ok, sorry to hijack but this is the first I have heard of Segway at FW. Is it there All-Terrain models or something?

Where can I find more info and pricing on it?

Thanks

Hi Cobbler!

You aren't hijacking at all!!! The thread is about the FW Segway tour. :)

It is new, it JUST started a few days ago. The tour is in a test phase, costs $65.00 (no discounts), you can call 407-WDW-TOUR. The Segways are a newer type, I believe you would refer to them as more of an all-terrain Segway.

I just found out that Disney's California Adventure also has a new Segway tour - I don't know if that one is in a "test" phase, but the one at FW definitely is.

Hmm, sounds very interesting. We are staying at the Cabins at the end of November. Hubby did the Around the World Segway and had a blast so maybe I will surprise him with this one too. Especially since it will be so close and convienent.

When are you doing it? Post details after you have done it please :)

Right now, I think it's just a two month test phase - but hopefully writing it up (and posting a lot of photos) will get others interested. I will definitely post details!

I just tried to reserve for Sept. and the CM said they are only booking thru Aug 11 which is their test phase. She said try back in a couple of months. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

It's such a limited test - 3 days per week, up to 10 people per tour, 2 tours per day. Currently the weekly load could be up to 60 people max. The day I went, there were a total of 5 between 2 tours. I can't believe that Disney hasn't promoted it more, but I'd love to see the tours sell out and get extended to an everyday tour past August (or even a few days a week, just extended!)

So even if you never look at my photos, definitely let others know about it! The tour is terrific, and I'm completely selfish in that I'd like to do it again myself (and won't be able to if it doesn't get booked!) :)

I love the Segway XT's - more rugged, they feel very sturdy. The tour guides we had were top-notch, and I can't say that for every tour I've ever been on (I've had other wonderful guides on tours, but also a couple of average ones - and one complete bummer many years ago!)

You will see mostly nature. It is going to be different than a tour of Epcot. But it's nice and shady - which is a HUGE plus. You won't just be on pavement, but will go off some of the time. I liked that a lot! I hope it turns into a popular tour! Fort Wilderness is one of my personal favorite places on property, and if you look at my walking photos - much of that is where the tour goes (I was very familiar with everywhere we went, except for a small area that is more for cast members). I did like having a smaller group, though I'm sure it'd be fun in a group of 10 as well!
