Signature restaurants

Jiko, California Grill, and Yachtsman steakhouse. Flying Fish is also very good.

California Grill:
Oak-fired Fillet Of Beef

Narcoossee's:
Surf and Turf

Yachtsman Steakhouse:
"Prime" New York Strip Steak

Brown Derby:
Sterling Silver Pork Chop

hard to pick one .. so I won't!

Flying Fish .. shrimp appy, scallops entree, any of the yummy desserts

California Grill .. sushi, flatbread

Jiko .. shrimp curry

Of the signatures I've been to:

1 - Citricos: Consistently amazing food and service.
Favorites: Arrancini, any fish entree, Lemon Cheesecake and Chocolate Banana Torte. Best bread!

In a VERY close #2 - Flying Fish: wonderful food, great service, just wasn't as personalized as Citricos.
Favorites: Char-crusted Steak, Snapper, Truffle Fries, whatever dessert sampler they have.

3 - Jiko: fabulous food, great service, desserts lack a tad for me.
Favorites: BBQ Chicken Flatbread, Ostrich Appetizer

4 - California Grill : excellent food, mostly great service, but loses points for noise level and is difficult to book.
Favorites: any variation of a risotto appetizer, Valrhona chocolate cake with a seasonal pairing.

5 - Hollywood Brown Derby: Great food, just not AS good as the others. Good service. Nice change from the usual theme park food.
Cobb Salad and Grapefruit Cake

6 - Narcoossee's: service was somewhat poor and food was 'just ok'.
Nothing, I would not return here when I can eat at the other places.

I have only been to a few---

---JIKO---
At Jiko I often order off the small plate section...both of these are deliciuos---Barbecue Chicken Flatbread - with Apple-Jicama slaw, African barbecue sauce, and four cheeses

Kalamata Olive Flatbread - With four cheeses and Laura Chenel soft goat cheese

---YACHTSMAN---
Creme Brulee desert is DIVINE

---Brown Derby---
Loch Daurt Salmon - with Scotch whisky maple glaze, fruits and barley filled crepe, and buttered sweet asparagus $33

Flying Fish: tomato/mozzarella salad or mussels for an appetizer, char crusted steak or scalllops for an entree, and chocolate trio, strawberry trio or cheese plate for dessert

Artist Point: mussels or smokey portobello soup for appetizer, buffalo for entree, not impressed with their desserts anymore since they changed their berry cobbler

Narcoosee: not impressed with their appetizers, but love their almond cheesecake for dessert. For an entree I usually order their Surf & Turf, substituting scallops for the lobster.

California Grill: any of their flatbreads or sushi for appetizers, pork loin for entree, cheese plate for dessert

Citrico: LOVE their crab gateau appetizer:lovestruc, whatever fish entree they have, used to love their berry gratin but it's not on the menu anymore and I haven't found any of their other desserts that great

Jiko: any of their flatbreads and maize crusted fish, but not impressed with any of their desserts

Yatchsman: used to have a better seafood salad that I liked for an appetizer, but not impressed with their newer one, also haven't been impressed with their steaks, but loved the lamb I had there last fall, also have yet to find a dessert that I'd go back for and I think I've tried most of them.

Brown Derby: haven't been within the last year or so, but have never been impressed enough with it to waste two credits on it. If I was paying OOP I'd go there for the cobb salad.

Flying Fish is my favorite Signature restaurant though.

Although my favorite restaurants are not on the dining plan, I do enjoy some of Disney's signatures. In order of restaurant preference:

1. Flying Fish. Love the cheese platter, the tuna tartar, the scallops.
2. Citricos. Enjoyed the goat cheese salad that has been removed from the menu , the duck comfit, and the grouper.
3. Jiko. Love the Taste of Africa, any of the soups (no matter what, I always have a soup here), and my favorite entree is the ribs.
4. Ca Grill. I only have sushi here now; I've always been disappointed in the entrees.
5. HBBD. They used to have a most excellent seared tuna entree and my favorite appetizer, a scallop with pork belly. Sadly, both have disappeared with the dining plan. I did enjoy tuna tartar and grouper here last month.
6. Artist Point. My favorite thing was the berry cobbler but I usually order buffalo here because it's not something I can get most places.
7. Yachtsman. The best thing is the bread. I now only get filets here as the other cuts of meat I've ordered have been tough (I've had the New York and the Ribeye). Although filets are not my favorite cut, they do a decent job with it. I also like the creme brulee here.
8. Narcoosees. Narcooses used to be a favorite but the last two visits have dropped it to the bottom. The last time I had the lobster; it was the worst lobster I've ever had.

So far, Jiko has been mine and my girlfriends favorite signature. Last time we both had the seared ostrich filet for an appitizer which was fantastic. I had the BBQ beef short rib and my girlfriend had the spiced crusted tuna both of which were great.

We also enjoyed Flying Fish but were disappointed with Cali Grill.

Flying Fish is my favorite Signature restaurant though.

I loved the seafood salad at Yachtsman the first week of December, 2009. Has the change been since then or did they previously have an even better seafood salad?

Our favorites are:

  1. California Grill (flatbread, filet mignon, sushi)
  2. Jiko (Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon with Macaroni & Cheese, flatbread with dipping sauces)
  3. Artist Point (Cedar Plank Roasted King Salmon, Grilled Bison/Buffalo steak)
  4. Brown Derby (filet mignon back in 2007--now discontinued)
Except for Jiko, we've eaten at all of these restaurants twice. On our next trip, we're going to try out Citricos, based on the great reviews it gets on this board.
