Signature Question???

It is amazing how many bytes you had then the same size picture had so many less why?

Well, as best I understand it because my daughter did it for me from faraway at University...firstly she changed the resolution, but then they looked awful, very grainy..so she then took one away as well.:guilty: I guess it must be related to the resolution of the pictures though others would know much better than I.

The siggy reporting is getting so old. I wish some people could just grow up and let it go for Gods sake. :sad2:

Not to be the devils advocate here, but you have to remember that there are people here on the DIS that are still on dialup. For those people, those signatures take forever to load. The guidelines are set for enjoyment of all.

Imagine that every thread you open takes 40-60 seconds to load, instead of 2-3 on broadband. You still like seeing all the signatures, but you still want to see the threads too. Now if everyone were in line with guidelines, those pages may take 10-15 seconds to load. It makes a HUGE difference.

I don't think people are 'picked on' but I do believe that most of the warnings about signatures go out because someone complains. I'd complain too, if it made that big of a difference for my surfing.

Minnie56, if you want me to make all three of your pictures fit within the guidelines, send me a PM with all of your original pictures and I will get them working for you and still with good quality. I work with pictures all the time and think I can help you.

Oh, how very kind. I will have to ask my DD where they are? I told you I am no Tekkie! Will let you know once I establish the wheres and hows!!!

Thank you!;)

I wont begin to argue with you. I understand how difficult it is to load your pages with dial up. Been there, done that. Hated it. :headache: But be aware that there are some who have had their hand slapped for whatever reason and are now on a mission to make sure everyone is behaving. :sad2:

Awhile back I got a warning that my signature pics were too big and too many (4) So, I removed one and with help of a very kind Diser...the 3 were made smaller and I was told ok.

Now, I get ANOTHER PM telling me they are too big 'again'???? What's with this? Just did a random 'look around' and many are larger than mine? I am feeling rather 'picked on' here!:confused3

From my experience, you won't get a notice about your signature unless someone reports you. That's what happened to me...

I got a friendly warning this week too... Bummer, because I thought my siggy was pretty darn cute. Oh well

I'm sort of wondering why they don't just limit the size automatically :confused3 I run my own board and you can limit the size of user signatures in the admin control pannel :rolleyes1 It's a mommy board, so everyone's siggies are hugenormous cuz everyone likes showing off their babies :rotfl:

I can't speak for any other mod but we can't get all the signatures that aren't legal. So it may seem that you are being picked on. I can tell you that is not the case.

We do have a lot of people that once they receive a warning become siggie policemen. We do get reported posts pointing out signatures that aren't legal.

Everyone should take the time to read the signature guidelines that are posted at the top of a lot of the boards. Have you all checked your signatures lately? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=976011

The mods are trying to keep the DIS a great community for everyone.
