I had a signature drink (mimosas) scheduled for my brunch reception. The BEO came back and the drink is $8.50 per drink and they base the price on 6 drinks per guest. Personally, I think that six drinks per guest is outrageous and none of my guests are going to drink that many mimosas especially since our reception starts at 10 in the morning.

My question is, has anybody done a cheaper signature drink or are they all the same price? It looks like it would be cheaper to do an open bar but it will all still be around 2K just for the alcohol.

Any advice is appreciated!

have you asked if they can reduce your estimate based on it being a morning event? I would think all specialty drinks would come in around 8.50 -- the average drink estimate is about $7 for a glass of wine (the average drink price for estimate BOC purposes).

Not sure if I'm understanding you, but prior to the event on the BEO, it's an estimate. They will count what they actually serve. Not sure why they put 6 drinks per person if you were saying that. The boc is usually the way to go for savings. That mimosa price must be the cheapest cocktail type drink they offer just about...

Yes, it would be BOC and I think we would probably end up getting a lot of it back after the wedding. It just means that I have to come up with that payment before the wedding.

I was just curious if anybody had a better idea but I think we will just stick with the mimosas. :goodvibes

Could you just get a few bottles of champagne instead? Does your meal come with orange juice? Could people make DIY mimosas?

Hehe I think we mentioned the idea of DIY mimosas. :lmao: Made sense to us!

I'm not sure we get orange juice but we are having a champagne toast, I could just tell people to pour some orange juice in there and mix it up ...:rotfl:

6 drinks each is madness! Can they not lower the estimate?

We had mimosas (or bucks fizz as its called in the UK) as a welcome drink to our at home recpetion, I didn't order one per person but still had loads left over.

Our signature drink at our DP was the Grand Marnier Slushie and it was even pricier at $10. I just had to have it though! LOL
As I said, it was kind of pricey, but I'm pretty sure any of the estimates of alcohol could be lowered as we went over that detail with our planner.

I think we estimated 1 or 2 per guest. They went with my estimate which I knew was high anyway as we also served beer and wine....

Talk to your planner, it can probably be modified. :goodvibes
