I would like to participate in this. I am a very tall person, so I can hide weight pretty well, but over the past 9 months my weight has gone way up due to the stresses of a new baby (born 10/10), work, etc. I am definitely a stress eater.

I'm pretty angry at myself that I am in this position. I've always had a weight problem, but around Thanksgiving of 2001 I joined WW with my sister-in-law and lost over 80 pounds (from 335 to 251)!! But then we decided to get off of WW (due mostly to cost) and now I've gained pretty much ALL of it back. I consider myself an athletic person, so that makes this even worse. Not to mention the wear and tear on my knees, etc. the extra weight causes.

Not sure what diet I would do though. Does anyone have info or a website on Atkins? Was pretty successful with the WW diet, so maybe I'll go with that.

Thanks for any help folks. I leave for WDW with the family on 6/27, so I'd like to get started on this and be "on a roll" before we leave.

Hello and welcome, Gregg!!! You are in the right place, don't worry!!! Now you need to take that angry energy and turn it into something positive. Focus that energy into making healthy choices and feeling good about yourself. Spend some time doing a search on google about stress release (maybe consider renting or buying a yoga DVD to reduce stress). No matter what eating plan you decide to follow, do not stress eat. Come here and read posts instead!!! :)

You've already taken a big step towards getting a healthier body/lifestyle. Just take it day by day and reward yourself for small goals. Did you grab your WISH clippie yet? I find the clippie changes to be very motivating and rewarding.

I'm on WW and love it. I don't go to the meetings, I just use my old materials and find help and advice and recipes here on WISH and also on the official WW site and Dotties Weight Loss Zone. Good luck to you!

I agree - you've taken the first step in reaching your goals just by joining our kooky family!! I think we're all doing different things but what works, works!! I myself could never stick to Atkins but there are so many successful people here that I say if you can do it - more power to you!! Once you decide on something - let us know what you're up to and don't be afraid to ask questions!!

BTW - a clippie is the WISH banner in your signature. At first it may just say WISH but as the pounds drop - you can change your clippie!!

Everyone starts the challenge with the plain 'WISH' clippie and then earns 'loss clippies' in 5 pound increments for the weight loss DURING their participation in the challenge. I lost quite a bit before joining the challenge so I chose to add the 'total loss' amount in my signature under my clippie. Feel free to do the same!

Welcome to WISH! I agree with TigH, turn your energies around from anger to excitement and determination. You have made some steps to start, now make the commitment and go for it! One thing that has helped me tremendously is the cheat free star challenge, here is a link for that. Congrats on deciding to get healthier!!!

Gregg, I'm glad you decided to join us. I think you're going to like it here. Now that you are here with us you don't need to be angry at yourself, anymore. You have officially taken control and you are on your way to goal.

We have a wonderful support group here. They are always ready to help fellow WISHers, so if you need information, support or just need to talk, come to WISH, we'll be here waiting.

I hope you can visit us often. Participating in WISH has been a great help to me and I just know you will find it helpful, too.

I will be happy to send you the Atkins rules for induction but I won't be able to do that before tomorrow or Thursday. My computer is ill and I don't have them on my laptop.

I've got a feeling that you are going to do very well with your weight loss endeavors. You are going to reach your goal. It won't be easy but we will all help you and there is nothing we can't do if we work together.
