Sigma 'Fast Prime' Fan Club

Several of you said you just bought this lens, and frankly, I've been researching my next lens purchase. The kit lens and 50-200mm just won't cut it for night time shots at WDW.

Where did you guys find this lens the cheapest if we go this route? Ebay? Camera sites?

Wow! That's fantastic. I just looked it up on Ebay--$424 cheapest with $15 shipping. Ouch!

I just did a HUGE Mystery Shopping project, and I should earn about $400....Mommy's play money it sounds like!

Good thinking...

Probably won't buy it for a month or two, but the cheapest I can find it is on-line at ibuydigital.com.

Not sure if that's even a good photo site. There are so many bad sites out there; I need to do some research first, but they have it at $399 with free shipping....

That's all I found after a really quick search...

Of the reputable online camera stores, B&H Photo has it in stock for $429.00.
Beach Camera/BuyDig, and Adorama did not have the Sigma 30/1.4 in the Pentax mount listed, so presumably they are out of stock currently. I am totally unfamiliar with IbuyDigital.com, but normally B&H prices are about as low as you will find from a legitimate store.

Tried to PM this to Dcanoli, but I'm just newb, so I guess it becomes a public question...

Anyone purchase one of these recently ?

If you did, then from where, and what did you think seller and or lens ? About to pull the trigger on buying one, just making sure from where and how soon...

Ibuydigital and Sigma4less both quote $399, at least for now, while B&H wants $499. The difference is a spare battery and a cable release worth. ;)

Thanks,
Enkil

Hey there!

I actually bought from Amazon.com because I had a big gift certificate from there.

I talked to Groucho, who steered me in the direction of the Pentax 50mm. It was WAY cheaper than the $400 Sigman one, so that's what I ended up buying for my Disney trip next week.

Good luck! I hope you get some more replies!

Saw a link for this thread in another thread so I thought I'd keep it going with some pics. I may have posted these in another thread a few months back, but they were both taken with the Sigma 30mm f/1.4:

BUMPIN' THIS BABY UP!!! :woohoo:

Seems like a lot of you out there have the "Dirty Thirty"---so let's post some shots. I'm looking forward to sharing some once mine comes in this week, so how about it? :yay:

Got the 30 1.4 last year from Amazon for $381.00. Was a great team with the D300 on our last trip to WDW. First time I got usable pics on SE, POTC, HM, etc.....

Some shots using my new "Dirty Thirty" at the US Botanic Gardens in D.C. I'm definitely LOVING IT. :lovestruc

All taken with a D40. I can't wait until we go back and I have the better high ISO capability of the D90!

Very glad to see these. I was sitting here worried that even with the Sigma 30 I may not be able to get good indoor ride pics, but if those were with the D40 I'm sure the D90 will end up being juuuuuuuust fine :thumbsup2

WDWFigment, I love these photos! But I *really* love your Partners & Icicle Castle Dream Light Bokeh! What lens did you use on that shot? It was at 200mm.
