Nope, did not happen when I got my first real job

Did not happen when I got married

Did not happen when I had DS

When did it happen? Saturday when my folks came over to see us before they take off to Florida for 10 days to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday, and my mom's retirement.

It's what they brought with them that made me a grownup.

A paper to sign, to allow me access to their safe deposit box (I'm the deputy that's what the paper said)

And...one sheet of paper detailing where their will is, where they have bank accounts, life insurance, medical power of attorney, etc etc etc.

Wow, I really feel like a grownup now. At least my brother is co-executor of the will, so he has to be one too!

A mortgage did it for me. It feels heavy doesn't it.

((((hugs)))) Debster. Life just throws us curves sometimes doesn't it?

Welcome to the Club!

Good for them in getting things lined up like that!

(Hang in there!)

Awww Debbie {{{{Hugs}}}} The day I became my mother's power of attorney and started handling her business, I too felt a sense of being "grown up". :( But then again, she yells at me for leaving my socks in the middle of the floor and everything feels back to normal again. :p {{{{Hugs}}}}

Oh...I agree. It's hard for us to think it's our turn to take care of things. ((((HUGS))))

WOW Deb, I don't know whether to laugh or cry for you. Personally, I'm sticking with peter pan's motto. They're going to have to take me kicking and screaming into "the grown up world" :p

Trust me...after just going through trying to find out all the info after my mom passed away, and having no clue where it was...that was a very grown up thing to do on THEIR part!!!!!

I know how you feel. My mother has been in ill health recently. It really makes you feel like a grown up when you're taking your mommy to the doctor :(

I'm takeing the Homer Simpson way to life,
"i'm not an adult untill i have to buy my own toliet paper"

I know that feeling quite well Debster. I felt so terribly grown up when I was shown by my dad where he kept his will, all other documents like that and the contact for the family lawyer. I have had access to all his bank accounts for years now. I think it was even worse for me when I was named executor of his will not too long ago (he wanted to wait until I was out of college to do that one though). It's a strange feeling though isn't it? {{hugs}}
