<sigh> I'm finally done!! Happy dance time!!!

I have corralled all of my photos, I was able to find about 75% of them on various computers, hard drives, and CD's.
I have cataloged them by date, I deleted the recovered files if I had the original, and I am in the process of burning them to back up DVD. DH will move them to my new external HD when he gets home!!
I think I managed to recover 99.99% of my photos!!!

Hallelujah!!!

Excellent!! We have an external hard drive that everything automatically backs up to, don't ask me how, DH is the computer guru, but it works. I have our most special pictures (like our wedding) also on DVD in our safe deposit box. When our old computer crashed I was so happy that I'd already sent a lot of pictures to Shutterfly and Kodak. Thankfully I was able to order the CDs and get some of my pictures back on my computer. Some were lost forever, like my sister roller skating followed by pictures of her in an arm cast that night - that would have been a priceless lay-out.

Yay! Congrats on the job well done!

DH keeps all of our stuff on an external HD as well as backed up online, and I'm SO glad he does. We came home from he IL's on Christmas Day to find that our Sheltie (DH says she's mine because no dog of his would do this, lol) had knocked the external HD off the tower of the computer onto the hardwood floor and broke it. It wasn't damaged on the outside, but the insides were shot. It took about 4 weeks to complete, but he finally ot it all recovered from the online backup.

We were behind on getting pics on cd, but it is done now, believe me! Now if I could just get them printed.......

I'm a bit late catching up here, but I'm glad you were able to recover your photos. I spent some time while the internet was down re-arranging photos into new folders, etc................P

in my house- if it aint on a cd it aint comming off the camera. I save everything on my memory cards till I get enough to make stashing them on a cd make sence. I make a yearly cd with all that years photos and store it in my fireproof box.

I know it's not the same but can I insert a hint here? I worked with a gal once who lost her house in a fire -- she lost all her photos FROM HER WHOLE LIFE and photo books etc.

When you back up your photos, please store a copy off site -- in your safe deposit box -- at your sister's house -- etc. Just somewhere. Hopefully, you will never need it, but if you do........you'll have it!
