I have to admit I am a little discouraged. I have been completly off Cokes now for 3 weeks, been drinking NOTHING but water! I have been exersicing for 2 weeks now, AND lo carbing it for about 2 weeks now. I eat no carbs for breakfast or lunch, and then for dinner I aloow myself carbd but try to keeo it equal like that CAD diet I was on years ago. I bought a scale and I have lost NOOOOOOOOOOOO weight:( SUrely just getting off the cokes should have lost me some weight? O r even the exercising. ! But here I am doing all 3 things, and nothing is gone:(

Those darn scales! I hate 'em! Here you are doing good things for your body and those scales are messing you over. No wonder you are  ! I say, off with their heads (or maybe out with their innards). Toss 'em against the wall and forget 'em.

Now that your frustration's over, go measure yourself. I never did that in the beginning, and I WISH that I had had that advice my first week.

NOW, when the scale doesn't co-operate, check the measures, and, hopefully, they will.

Whine all you want, but DON'T give up! You can do this! I have a lot of faith in you!

I would like to suggest that you try to spread your carbs more smoothly over the day. The idea behind low carb is to stabilize your blood sugar. A large hit of carbs at any one meal will spike your insulin production. I know CAD advocates a high carb meal - but it comes with serious restrictions (balance of all types of foods and must be consumed within 1 hour) but honestly CAD does not work for everyone.

Keep doing what you are doing... but try to smooth your carb intake out over the day and I bet you see more results.

Thanks guys. I just realized all the typos in my post! I must really be down! It is so tempting to go in there right now, and eat EVERYTHING I have been denying myself for 2 weeks and finish it off by a 12 pack of COKE! LOL Just a big ole binge. BUT I WONT, Will NOT do it, because that means all the hard work I have done was for nothing! I even went to a birthday party yesterday and passed on the cake and ice cream! LOL

Dixie, the reason I tried CAD was because it did work for me once before, but I fell off the wagon, and I got so tired of eating that way. So what you are suggesting is that more like Atkins? I have been a little scared to try Atkins, because I have heard that if you fall off the wagon, all the weight you lost plus more will come back ferociously (sp)

What kinds of things do you eat throughout the day to spread your carbs? Can you give an example menu of a typical day for you? I'd really appreciate it, or from anyone here that does this?
Thanks
Amanda

Hey now, hang in there!!!!

You are already doing some wonderful things. Giving up Coke, that is awesome! Exercising for two weeks, WOO-HOO!!! You even have a very pretty Minnie workout clippie in your signature. Those are two brilliant things to be very proud of!

I can't help you with the carbs information, but I just want to say congratulations on giving up coke and starting to exercise. It takes alot of determination and hard work to do both of those things and you should be extremely proud! Trust me, a year from now if those were the only changes you made you would see and feel some great results, so give your body time to adjust!

:) Hang in there, you are doing a great job! :)

Once you figure out how to spread the carbs out and stop the carb binges at dinner, I'll bet you start seeing quick results.

Just cutting out the Cokes and doing the exercise for the past 3 weeks is great- you've proven that you can do that, and those two things are much harder than planning your menus.

Also, remember that our gains and losses don't always show up immediately. Sometimes it takes a week or even two for the good things we do to show up on the scales. Two weeks is way too early to get discouraged (although seeing quick results is very gratifying.)

Be sure you're eating healthy, drinking your water, getting exercise, and you'll start seeing results from whichever plan you're following!
