Siesta Key Questions

I am planning on taking a day trip to siesta key for a May trip. I am looking for a good place to have a relaxed quiet dinner. DH loves seafood but I do not so I will need a place that I can get a beef or chicken entree also. We plan on spending the day at the beach and doing a little shopping. So we won't have the means to get dressed up. Can anyone recommend somewhere? I would love to eat outside. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.


Also is there anything that we shouldn't miss while we are there?

The Beachhouse restaurant! It's about a 10-15 min. drive from Siesta Key. It has tables right on the sand and alot of outdoor seating. I love the place and it's a must-eat-at place everytime we visit, which is at least once a year. Great place to watch the sunset and sometimes they even have a guy who plays Parrothead type of music on an acustic guitar. You can even go walk the beach while you're waiting for your food. Magic.

For shopping I recommend St. Armands Circle! Shopping there is so much fun and I don't like to shop. I think it's in the Longboat Key area.

Not sure about a place to stay - we always stay at my parents vacation home in Bradenton. Sorry.

Siesta Key village has a few restaurants to choice from, we like the Old Salty dog, they serve a variety of things, The fish and chips is good! There s also a few shops to have a wander around too.

Thank you so much. We do Disney several times a year but have never gone to a beach so we figured it is time. Sounds like we will have lots of choices.

We usually go to SKOB (Siesta Key Oyster Bar) after visiting the beach which has good fresh seafood and outdoor seating (but not beachside).

Yes it is!! I've never been to the Oyster Bar but I've heard it's good. If it's the place I'm thinking about it's alot closer to the "bar" scene, where the Beachhouse is more off by itself, and like you said - beachside. If you looked at the menu it's pretty eclectic(sp?) I happen to love their cuban sandwich! I have to order one at least once every trip. Hope you have fun.

Where is a nice place to stay on Siesta Key for one night? Everything I have found so is very pricy ($300 and up).

This will be a parent's only trip. Something romantic would nice.

Yes it is!! I've never been to the Oyster Bar but I've heard it's good. not sure about reservations. We've never made any, and the longest wait we've had has been about 15min.. ANy wait we had was mainly to ensure we got the table we wanted. Not sure if you'll have the same luck, I'm also one who can pull into the most crowded parking lot and find a spot right up front . I don't think you'll have a problem
