We are looking to go to Siesta Key in Florida mid-May this year. I've been looking at condo rentals and there are so many! Would really appreciate any thoughts/tips/advice for booking there. Which complexes are better or worse? Closest to the beach? We'd really like to be on the beach or a very short walk to the beach. Would very much appreciate any and all insight.

Last year I went to Venice Beach, FL which is a little south of Siesta Key. I stayed at Inn at the Beach and they are very clean with a friendly staff. It is across from the beach with a side street in between the hotel and beach.

I also stayed on the same trip at Sanibel Island and that area is really nice with good restaurants and cute little shops through the Island.

Tripadvisor would help if you would like to stay at Siesta Key - I check fellow travelers' advice all the time there when deciding where to stay.:thumbsup2

TripAdvisor is great for reviews, we used to go to Siesta Key beach every summer when I was in school but I don't remember where we stayed. I know that I loved the sand because it wasn't as hot as normal sand and if you swam about 15 feet out and all the way to the bottom you could find real live sandollars. I will try ot find out the name of the place we stayed at, it was right across the street from the beach and it was a suite that 8 of us stayed in.

I would go down and visit my grandparents who stayed along Mindnight pass road.
Always stayed in their condo so i do not know where would be a good place to stay, but a great breakfast place was The Broken Egg 140 Avenida Messina.

St. Armands Circle was great for shopping on longboat key. The sand on the beach is amazing and everyone gathers nightly for the sunset. Have a great time and look for the dolphins off the cost we saw a few.

I live in the area and I grew up 5 minutes from Siesta Key. Definitely a beautiful place...most beautiful sand in the whole world! There are a ton of places right on the beach and also in the village. Most of the snowbirds have gone back up north for the summer by then, so prices should be decent and you may find a small house or condo for rent. But there are some B&Bs that are great and even hotels. Pretty much everything is small, quaint, beachy, and very laid back! Tripadvisor.com is a great place to go for reviews and a PP mentioned The Broken Egg - yummy!!!!!!! VERY popular place for breakfast and lunch. If you have any specific questions or have questions about places to stay or anything, you can PM me and I should be able to answer most of your questions. You will love Siesta :)
