Siemens ends sponsorship with Disney

Illuminations is great because you can literally grab a good spot anywhere and still get a good view of the show (minding the wind). It's a really cool experience

Private viewings are pretty amazing too.
Never tried it, but for illuminations I feel as though it's not really worth the expense given you have the whole lagoon to look at it from. With the exception of a cruise of course. Just my opinion

How dare you sir.

You too.

I'm alright with them getting rid of Siemens. It's a weird name to have on the side of a building. I looked up what they do exactly and still don't know. Some jargon about technology, I don't know. I gave up after the first paragraph and looked at some videos of kittens.
They're big in transportation, for one thing. When they began their sponsorship, they were in the running to participate in the building and operation of Florida's high speed rail, which was killed by Governor Scott. I always figured that was a big factor in their deciding on the sponsorship -- to get some name recognition in the area.

Had the whole wedding thing in France...have seen it from the American lounge...

Still kinda like it better from the promenade.

Is it bad that I'm not unhappy that Illuminations might be going? I've never liked that show, I think it's the big globe coming out with the projections, I like the rest of it. As far as SSE, I've seen it change sponsors so I'm not too worried. Which ride was it that had the policeman hiding behind the billboard and the caveman blowing on his feet? I could have sworn that was SSE but not I'm thinking it might have been World of Motion? I loved that ride. I know it was sponsored by a car company.
Yes, World of Motion sponsored by GM. Definitely the original Epcot attraction with the best gags. I think that was Ward Kimball's work.

It was replaced by Test Track.

Latest is Siemens was looking to renegotiate and renew their contract for sponsorship but something made them change their mind...

I'll be honest - I wonder how good of a use of funds it is ... I guess I am not sure what products Siemans makes that I might by and be like "hey, Siemans sponsors SEE so I am going to buy their product instead of another"

They make a lot of tech....things. Like how I specifically answered your question?

The DIS had a private illuminations at midnight for the 20th event. It was amazing. We got out of the Jodi Benson concert and walked up to an empty world showcase.

Ahhh I gotcha I thought you meant like a private viewing area. Yeah a total private illuminations must've been incredible

We are planning on our first Epcot visit in December- will I miss out on Spaceship Earth & Illuminations in the present form, or is there a chance they will leave them alone until January? :sad1:

As for nighttime entertainment always being there I will only mention parades. Those could have dessert parties too but they have pretty much vanished.

I would bet that something will still happen at Epcot. As long as the whole thing isn't an upsell, I'm game.

You will be fine, they won't be changing them that quick.

I wonder how long it will take them to declare a refurb just to take down the signage. I don't think the ride or fireworks show will be pulled down extensively, but I could see them at the least to take down the signs. No idea how long that would take as I don't remember how extensive are the sponsorship signage and part of the soundtrack. But you could get unlucky and have it closed for that kind of refurb and cleaning maybe. They aren't going to want to leave it up when they aren't getting the money.
