Siemens ends sponsorship with Disney

See, I'm only seeing this on WDWNT. You think something this big would be announced elsewhere. I'm calling shinanigans. For now.

Even if Siemens doesn't sponsor it anymore, it's a giant ball at the entrance of the park. They will NOT tear it down or anything. I think Spaceship Earth is safe. Journey into Imagination, however... I'm not so sure. I'm kind of hoping they say something about it at D23 about how beloved Figment is and how their bring back Dreamfinder and making a more up-to-date version of their ride from the 80s.... a girl can dream.

Siemens announced to their employees today....It is official. I wish I could show you the email, but it was an internal one so I can't post it. I am sure there will be an official Disney announcement soon enough.

You think Disney has something else up their sleeve? Maybe a bigger name? We know Disney loves dollar signs.
Disney has plenty of other attractions they'd love to have sponsorship for with how many companies have pulled out recently. If they had a sponsor willing to pay they wouldn't have turned them down hoping for a "bigger name".

How dare you sir.

You too.

I'm alright with them getting rid of Siemens. It's a weird name to have on the side of a building. I looked up what they do exactly and still don't know. Some jargon about technology, I don't know. I gave up after the first paragraph and looked at some videos of kittens.

I work for Siemens and still don't know what it is we do:smooth:

Google Siemens Disney partnership. The original sponsorship was only supposed to be a 12 year deal. Hopefully they will agree to a new contract.

While there is nothing noted on the email stating that it is for internal use only, I am hesitant to screen shot the whole email. I am sure an official external press release will be made shortly.
I understand. I am not so sure about a press release. Most companies don't make official press releases about ending a sponsorship only about starting a new one.

We are just looking to confirm this. This news started from a tweet and this poster is the only other person that has received said email. I had another Siemens employee contact me and said they received no such email.

At the bottom of the email it states it was sent to all US employees of Siemens Industry....If they are not a US employee or an employee of Siemens OSRAM they would not have received this email, which is from Siemens USA CEO.

Not to bore everyone, but Siemens has about 12 different divisions and 5 major operating companies. I am scrubbing our internal website to see if there is anything I can link to that you all may be able to see.

Ok, thanks!

That is true I wouldn't announce it either, just quietly let it slip away. :) Well if I see anything that I can officially post, I will do so.

What I'm afraid it might trigger is just an elimination of Illuminations with nothing replacing it.

Oh no I hope this doesn't happen!! I have an Illuminations dessert party booked for the night of my Disney wedding in April 2018. I love Illuminations, but if it goes I hope they at least replace it with something else :(

Slightly OT - but has there ever been a time when Epcot didn't have a night time show? I remember them very well from childhood and then for adulthood, but there's about a 5 year period I didn't go - stupid college, grad student poor times.
