Siemens ends sponsorship with Disney

If this is all true, it's interesting that Siemens was willing to provide expensive monorails and now they just want out.

That dog don't hunt...

Siemens is german run...so much more respectable that phoney stock US companies...so something doesn't seem right here.

And WDWNT is...well...you know...a bunch of fools on the jim hill level.

I can't see Spaceship Earth going. It's second only to the Castle as icons go in Disney World, and it's more photogenic, too.

I'm more interested in thoughts about turning down their monorail fleet replacement offer. With all the discussion lately of their aging fleet, it makes me wonder what their plans are.

If anybody was willing to replace the monorails...I'd let them sponsor the entire compound...

Maybe the monorail problems are as much about the beams...I've wondered about that?

So, I've been curious for a while now... who is Jim Hill, and why do so many people seem to not like him?

He makes everything up or repeats anything he hears and doesn't vett it, presents it as news, and then sells advertising space to make money based off it.

In his prior life he sold Florida swamp land.

I disagree, News Today is one of the best Disney sites on the web. They are the first site I check for Disney info (sorry DIS). Plus they don't seem to make up stories the way Old Jim Hill and his loyal sidekick Len Testa do.

Their success rate is below the line...like all "insider news" sites (cause there are none)...though with greater accuracy than jim hill...I'll give you that.

The MK beams are in good shape. Some of the Epcot ones not so much.

Those beams are going to continue to degrade...which is one of the main reasons I think the system is doomed. That never gets much attention in these discussions but it should. Some have been there 48 years...what mass transport system can get much more out of the roads/rails?

I find it interesting that the MK beams are in better shape considering they are older. The MK beams were built offsite in Washington. The Epcot line was built on site so I wonder if they is a big reason for the difference.

It's the only thing we have right now...and official announcement will either validate the story or completely discredit it...stay tuned.
It isn't the only thing we have. There are reports from Siemens employees on twitter that they received an email stating the change.

There's a complicated formula:

Concrete + Steel + Boeing Climate = Good

Concrete + Steel + Everglades Climate = Bad

Also MK beams are more easily accessible (sort of but in crowded areas too) and it probably helps to keep those looking nice for the people who spend hundreds of dollars at the monorail resorts running it.

I'm just spitballing here
