Side trip to the Keys??

A very good friend of mine is planning on coming to our wedding and then making a side trip down to the keys-she has always wanted to go there and this would be the perfect time!
She would be travelling by herself,she is okay with renting a car but was also wondering if there was any effecient/straight thru busses that are economical that could get her from wdw to the keys and back again!
Also if anyone has any good tips about the keys please do share!

I don't know about busses but by car it is about a 6-7 hour drive.
