Well, I have been reading journals for the past week and have finally gotten around to starting my own. A little (or a lot) about me: I am 30, with a 3 1/2 yo son, Alex. My Dh, Paul and I have been married for 6 years now- together since 1994, though. I manage a bank and he manages a wholesale supply company. He's always been thin- was a runner in school; I was muscular, a dancer through college, but just fat now. I can't stand the person I've become- well, the physical person, at least- I'm happy with the real person I am. As far as the physical fat person, though- yuck! I once taught aerobics to people and now I hate to excercise- maybe I can get back on the excercise track one day, though.
Last week, my Asst and I were looking and calling around to fat doctors. You know, calling to see how much they charged for the Rx diet pills. Well, I came upon an ad in the yellow pages and for some reason, it kinda struck me. I called and they were the most expensive, so, true to form, I made an appointment to go that night (last Tuesday) to hear the nutritional class they do. Well, they have this program, rather than just give you diet pills. The lady is a nutritionist and will teach me how and what to eat- really to change the way I've been eating. I will go to be weighed and measured (my wellness check) every week now. I made an appt with the doctor on staff to get the diet pills for Wednesday. I know, please don't get on to me for the pills- I've heard it all. But, I'd like some help with my appetite. I am always hungry and wanting to eat- I'm hoping I can just take them for a month and then my appetite will be "used" to the idea of eating less. I also got some supplements and vitamins. She put me on a 1200 calories/day and 20 fat grams a day plan. They took before photos and I did that Tanita scale that shows all my stats. So here are my before stats:
On her Dr scale, it said 182 pounds, the Tanita scale said 180- and my home scale said 182, so I'll go with that.
BMI- 29.1- whoa!
Fat % 37.8- Oh MY!!
68 pounds of fat mass!
12 excess pounds of water weight!
To stay at my current weight, I need 1609 calories a day. So, this 1200 a day plan should work, right? We'll see!
