So, my 5 yr old has a sore throat, and now says his tongue hurts--like along the sides. He was refusing to swallow for a little while. I finally convinced him to take some liquid tylenol. He had no temp and seems quite a bit better. His throat is not red and he doesn't have a runny nose.
My concern would be strep of course, but as far as I know he hasn't been exposed to it and he has no symptoms other than the sore throat. He is not a whiny kid so I know it hurts if he is complaining. But I don't want to go to the DR and deal with the whole strep test thing if it's not pretty likely.
How do you know if it's just a sore throat or if it's strep?
