I was wondering if anyones has had a child with this. My oldest had something like this ones before and a person told me of a mixture that you could give them and it would help their throat to feel better. he has blisters on the back of his throat and will not eat anything and is only drinking a little. Went to the dr and since it is a viral thing there was nothing they could give him. ANYONE with suggestions would be great. He is just in a lot of pain.
Thank You!!!

I feel for you!!! My DS2.5 had this over the summer and was miserable for a week. The only thing that we could get him to eat were popsicles for about 4 days and then he was able to eat bananas, yogurt and ice cream. This was the worst illness he has ever had because there was nothing to make him feel better. When he finally started drinking we were able to give him tylenol for the pain. Lots of hugs :grouphug: and pixie dust! I hope he feels better soon!

My son had this when he was about 2 years old. I must not have had it as a child because I came down with it as well. I ran a horrendous fever and had the sore throat.

Thankfully, it quickly passes (especially the younger you are). Cold liquids, yogurt, etc. basically the same thing you'd treat having your tonsils taken out.

A sore throat spray might work; however, it might hurt like the dickens the first time you use it.

Call your pharmacist, I think it is a combo of mylanta and benadryl, but I'm not 100%. You can always call your dr. they will get a perscription for you. It is very painful, I had it about 7 years ago.

My DD had it when she was 2. I found Tylenol helped some with the pain. I actually mixed it into a little ice cream to help it go down. I made ice pops out of yogurt and let her have all the jello she wanted. The severe pain lasted about 2 days and then she had a mild sore throat for a few more days. The most important thing is to keep your DS hydrated.

If you do try the mylanta and benedryl, which sounds like it would work, make sure that the mylanta is the plain stuff, not flavored. The citric acid in some of the flavored versions could be more painful.

Thanks everyone. I am trying to keep fluids down him and he is drinking water. Everything else he trie burns his throat. He has had a high fever. yesterday he had a febrile seizure. This is his fifth one. He only has them with a fever so that is the only good thing about it. He seems to be a liitle better right now, i finally got motrin down him even though he said it burns.

YEAH!! He is feeling better today! No fever so far today.

This must be going around, there have been several posts about this over the past few months. It seems like there is a new on popping up each week. Glad to hear your son is feeling better.
