Hi!

I went in to the doctor yesterday, I have had this cough with wheezing that has been with me for 3 months. Anyway, I went last week and he prescribed me an inhaler. I went in yesterday for a follow up and they did an alergy test.

Got all the stuff put on my back, the girl came and poked me. She came back in to check for the results and it turns out I am allergic to everything under the sun. While she was checking me, I started to feel dizzy standing there, I had to lean over the sink because I felt like I was going to pass out. Felt kind of funny the rest of the day. Got home at 4:30 and fell asleep. I woke up at 6:00, ate and made the kids dinner.

I felt funny all night. My back was sore and still itchy, had a hard time sleeping because my back was sore. I got up this morning, I still feel funny. My back is better, but I feel like if I stood up for a while, that dizzy feeling will come back.

I don't know if this is related to the allergy test or not. I was fine until I went in yesterday. I don't know if nerves could be doing this?

Anyone have any ideas?

Call your DR, did they put you on a medicine, like Allegra or Zyrtec? that may be causing the sleepness, and if you were put on the decongestant it may give you the jitters.

Ah the wonders of medicine.

Well not to alarm you but if you tested positive with the "back scratch" test, you have MAJOR allergies!! That tests for high to severe.

I suffer from a ton of allergies, that are all mild and did not come up on the back scratch test, I had the arm test to find this out.

I do get dizzy from my allergies, and I know why now. My mold allergy effects my inner ear which makes me dizzy.

I would call the doctor and let them talk to you to be on the safe side.

Yes, I believe skin prick testing can cause you to feel bad if you test positive on so many things.

Just think, just about everything you are allergic to has been put into your body. Your immune systems is trying to counteract that.

I would take some Benadryl for a few days.

Wow - I didn't realize that Dr's still do the skin prick testing - when my ds went in for allergy testing the Dr just took 2 viles of blood and they tested that - one vile for inhalents and 1 vile for food. It was so much easier on him to do it that way.

That's not always the most effective way. Skin prick isn't either. Usually, they like to do both and compare results.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I figured that something was still lingering from that back scratch test. I tested allergic to almost everything on that list. She said she couldn't tell where one ended and another started because they were getting so big.

Who would have figured? I didn't think I was allergic to anything before this. DH had one done at the same time while I was there and he isn't allergic to anything!

I will give it until this afternoon, if I still feel funny then I will call the doctor.

Thanks!!!

That's incredible! My DS had the back scratch tests. His biggest "wheal" was from peanuts, second biggest was egg whites. I think he got a pretty big one on leaf mold. The others were relatively small. For you to get such big wheals--well, no wonder you don't feel well. If/when you call your doctor, I wouldn't be surprised if they phone you in a prescription for an antihistamine. This should get you feeling less sick.

I am quite surprised the Dr. didn't give you an antihistamine if you reacted that badly. Those reactions cam be very dangerous if you have or develop allergy induced asthma. Call the doctor NOW and get something for it. I have many allergies too, but none are as severe as yours sound. I have taken desensitising shots for years, and they have really helped enormously! I do still have to treat my asthma as well, but the shots help so much, and I now only have to get them every other week. I've taken them for 15 plus years.
