Sick at the World?

I read trip reports like crazy, and I have noticed a disturbing trend. It seems as though many people are getting sick while at the parks? Everything from upper respiratory stuff to stomach bugs!! Yuck! I'm usually pretty careful, but this has me more nervous than usual. Hopefully plenty of handwashing and hand sanitizer will keep us germ free during our May trip. Anyone else noticing more sickness than usual?

I've been sick while in at the World...not as much fun but still managed to enjoy the trip
oh, and the most likely reason a lot of people get sick in Disney, lots of people equals lots of germs. Also, the warm temperature accelerates the growth and spread of bacteria...Just my opinion though.

Carry hand sanitizer and use it like crazy!! I also carried lysol wipes and wiped down tables when we were there. Washed our hands after every ride. Crazy YES but we didn't get sick. (knock on wood)

Every time we go on vacation I have at least one get sick. It doesn't matter whether we're going to WDW or Grandma's house. Different set of germs, ya know. I think all you can do is good handwashing and hope for the best. Either that or stay home

I don't worry about getting sick at Disney World because...I usually get sick BEFORE we go! HAHA! actually I've never had the misfortune to get sick while I was there but the potential is definately there! lots of those nasty little bugs around. I really do usually end up getting sick before I go though! I can't remember a trip when I haven't had a cold no matter what time of year it is. I ALWAYS wash my hands with soap and water and keep my sneezing to myself as much as possible. GOOD LUCK!

it's pretty much a given that one of us will be sick sometime during our WDW trip. I take every precaution, am diligent with hand washing, hand sanitizers, wipes, vitamens etc. It just doesn't matter. WDW is where Gondis Piotis lives and thrives! Just be prepared!

Ugh, I've been thinking about it as well. I am just getting over an ear infection and now 3 kiddos in my daycare have a stomach bug. Maybe I should expect one of us to get sick.

Do they sell Lysol or Clorox wipes in travel size?

I didnt say this but one of the other reasons people get sick at disney is all the other people who go to disney sick. Same as at work "Oh its only pneumonia. I am not going to work just on vacation. I will be relaxing at disney and getting better there." Yes and all of the people at disney will be exposed and getting sick.

If you are sick stay home or at least stay at the hotel. I dont want to be either in front/behind/or beside U in line for 1/2 hour waiting for a ride getting your illness.

Ok a cold/allergies but come on if U have to leave the line several times to use the bathroom or get sick in a trash bin ( as I have seen) stay away from people. SORRY for the vent.

Before and during your trip. Its this herbal, vitamin type thing you add to water to make it fizzy. I swear it is the only reason I have not gotten a cold type thing in a long time. Airplanes are a haven for germs...the air even smells stale. And all those kids at Disney...you know they don't all wash thier hands. They sell this stuff at the grocery stores and pharmacies. They have Airborne Jr for kids too. PLus, if I feel the slightest odd/sick feeling, I take and extra vitamin C and zinc. So, far, so good! We gave our kids ages 6 and 5 the airborne tablets 3 days before and every other day during our trip.
