Today is another day at Epcot
For breakfast we were planning to go to Whispering Canyon Café but decided the we’d rather sleep in so we changed our reservation to later at Kona Café again.
Jon and I had the big kahuna with no pineapple or macadamia nut butter for the pancakes. Everything was great. My favorite was still the french toast and I would probably stick with that if I have breakfast here again.
Robin had the blueberry pancakes. A very generous portion with tons of blueberries. It was delicious!
Meg had the 2 egg breakfast. She thought it was very good especially the sausage, she even ate mine too dipped in syrup.
For Lunch we had Le Chefs de France. At first Jon, he was nervous about trying a “french” restaurant.
The bread service is baguettes and butter. The baguette is fresh with a crunchy crust.
The Maitre’d Armand came round with Remy as we waited for our food. He was so adorable!
Jon played it safe, he had the french onion soup sans gruyere for his appetizer and the hamburger for his entrée. The soup was nice with a good beef flavor. The brioche bun was wonderful the burger could have been larger. Jon eyed my entrée with envy and declared he would be more adventurous next time.
Robin skipped an appetizer but did order a childrens portion of the mac and cheese. She had the croque monsieur for her entrée. She loved the mac and cheese, it was rich and creamy. She liked the croque monsieur, it was tasty but needed more ham to balance all the cheese. The salad that comes with the sandwich was very bland.
I had the french onion soup sans gruyere as well and the roasted chicken for my entrée. I had never tried french onion soup before because of the cheese but I figured I’d try it without the cheese for fun. It was pretty good. I loved the big chunk of baguette in it. The chicken was perfect! The sauce it came with was divine. The potatoes could have been cooked a bit longer but otherwise a great meal.
Meg also had the soup also sans gruyere. For her entrée she ordered the vegetarian lasagna. She thought the soup had too much bread but good flavor. She like the lasagna but said the sauce tasted canned.
Jon had the apple crepe dessert. He found it a bit small but delicious. He cleaned his plate
Robin and Meg had the crème brulee. The custard was good with a strong hint of vanilla and they didn’t over do the brulee, caramelized but not burnt. What happen the madeleine cookie this used to be served with?
I had the profiteroles aux chocolat. I would have preferred more of a milk chocolate sauce as I’m not a fan of bitter or semisweet chocolate but it was still very good. The ice cream was super frozen! It hurt my teeth a bit.
For dinner we had a quick bite at Sunshine Seasons.
Robin, Meg and I had the Mongolian beef. It was good as always but could have been a bit fresher. It was late in the day so that might be why.
Jon had the roasted chicken with I didn’t get a photo of, it didn’t look good but he said it was delicious, again a case of could have been fresher due to the late hour.
For dessert it was strawberry shortcake all around. This was fabulous as always so light and fresh with wonderfully ripe strawberries! Yum!
Today was a good food day with Chefs de France being the highlight of the day.
