Shuttles from Hotels in Downtown Disney

How easy it is to get to the parks from the hotels around Downtown Disney (Marriot, Hilton, etc.)? Do the shuttles run frequently?

Alternatively, I'm thinking of taking a quickie trip to WDW over 4th of July weekend. Anyone have ideas for cheap hotels? I'm not renting a car so I need to rely on the hotel transportation. Maybe I should call CRO and ask about the All-Star prices?

I would check into the All Stars. We have stayed at both All Stars and the Downtown Hilton. The Hilton is very nice but I did not care for the transportation. At MK the DD busses will not take you to the gate just to the parking lot where you will have to take the monorail or boat. For such a busy weekend especially I would want the great transportation at the All Stars. The hotels have a very different feel the Hilton is very adult/bussiness like although they really "made over our kids" the All Stars are "all Disney". Wish I was going too!

The bus service from the DTD hotels is okay ... my main concern is that they let you off in the middle of a parking lot. I believe the bus that picks up guests at the Hilton also picks up guests from the Wyndham and sometimes the Grosvenor. They also don't seem to run as frequently as the Disney buses do (I think it was every 30 mins in 2002 and every 1 hr to AK).

The DTD hotels are OK (every 30 minutes) BUT other offsite hotels have scheduled shuttle service. The service is not always free, may have to be reserved the night before and may only have a few pick up times in the am and a few return in the afternoon. In some cases the last return bus is before fireworks/illuminations.

In other words if you won't have a car on site is best, DTD is next best and anyplace else should be avoided.
