Do the shuttle companies from SNA supply carseats if requested. I'm not bringing ours on the plane but definitely wanted one for the ride from the airport to the hotel. My son is 3 and usually rides in a Britax Marathon so I definitely want it to be one that fits him since he's so tall he's a little over 40 inches and 40lbs.

I don't hink so. As fat as i know there isn't a need for a carseat on a shuttle. And you may not be able to hook in in either. You would have to ask the company directly, but I am thinking you may not be able to use one at all.

For the shuttles like Magical Express and the shuttles to and from the parks you are not allowed to have car seats. If you have one from the plane, you have to store it under the bus. There are no seat belts to hook them into.

really? No carseats in the shuttles from the airports? I can understand the ones from the hotels to the parks........but on the freeway with no carseat??
*gulp* that's scary...
The bus..I can understand....but a shuttle is just a van right? Am I being the overly cautious mom here?:sad1:

No, not overly cautious. The idea of dd riding around the park property on the bus is one thing...but to have to be on the highway without a carseat? especially with excited little ones. It is scary... I've had the same thoughts about limos before, too.... :confused3

is that legal for a small child to be without a carseat? Yikes!

In most states there is a livery exception to the carseat law, so yes, it is usually legal.

i dont think the shuttles even have seatbelts. the shuttle we took to the rental car place didnt have any

I am not familair with SNA - but I will try and give you an answer.

If it is a private shuttle or car service and you have contracted for a van they may have a carseat - some do some don't. Give them a call to see what your best options are. Alternately, you may want to see about a car service like Fl Tours. There are some recomendations on the transportation board.

If it is a true "airport" shuttle service like Mears or even Disney's Magical Express they will not have a carseat and you wont' be able to use one. These are Motor Coach buses and don't have seatbelts. In addition the bus transportation at WDW is all city type buses and again they won't have seatbelts.

If you are not comfortable with this the best thing to do is rent a car for the trip to/from the airport and to use at Disney to get to the parks. This way you can bring your own carseat or rent one from the rental agency.

Again - if you want to pop over to the transportation board there is great information there including lots of sticky FAQ's on the tranportation options.

A little OT: This doesn't exactly answer your question about the car seat but I wanted to mention that on our last trip to DL we flew into SNA (Orange County airport - CA) and used a Limo/Towncar service to transport us from airport to hotel and back. It was a very nice limo that picked us up at the airport and on the ride back to airport, we had a town car (which is what we had originally ordered - the limo was a free "upgrade"). I don't remember the name of the company we used, but dh booked it thru limos.com linked off of mousesavers.com website HERE. The cost was only marginally more than using the Supershuttle (which I hear gets pretty bad reviews overall) and it was such a wonderful, relaxing, luxurious ride!:thumbsup2

OK back on topic now...
We did bring the car seat (used it on the plane) and so we had one for the car to and from the airport. Like you I wouldn't do it any other way. At 40# already I think it's probably unlikely the rental company (whoever you choose) will have a higher weight limit seat like the Marathon you own. You would probably have to settle for a bpb and at his age, it's not recommended. Only you can decide if he would remain seated properly 100% of the car ride to and from the airport. If you're going to be traveling frequently you might consider buying a travel seat like the Safeguard GO or the Ride Safer travel vest, which is a wearable harness that connects to the vehicle seatbelt/latch system. Or buy a Gogo Kidz cart or inexpensive luggage wheels and use that to push/pull the Marathon thru the airport.

Hth!
