Can anyone recommend a viewing spot near KSC for shuttle launches?

Having seen two shuttle launches from within WDW, next month we'll be staying just down the coast from KSC (at Vero Beach) when there's a scheduled launch, so would like to go somewhere nearer to view it. :)

Hi,
We were chatting to a bartender in the Green Cabin room at VB and the subject of Shuttle launches came up. He assured us if we were ever there when one was scheduled VB itself was a great place to see it. Never been there to confirm it but that's what he said.

Mick.

:cool2:

VB itself was a great place to see it
That would be great, especially as the scheduled launch time is 6:43am ;) !

I've been reading up on this aswell saying as though I'll be over there at the time and port canaveral and titusville are also both recommended, but you are warned about traffic. I'm actually planning on visiting KSC 2 days before the launch anyway so I was planning on asking the staff there what the recommendations are, even if it means paying to view from the visitors complex, I'm taking the approach that I wont get many other chances to witness a launch so I don't mind the wait/expense

Yes, Mick, that was the one!

Oh well, I consider myself lucky to have seen two launches from afar, so I'm happy to wait to see one from closer quarters some day :)

My recommendation would be outside, preferably facing the correct direction. Hope that helps Hil:thumbsup2 Oh, and is it too early for enjoying the moment with a cold beer?;)

We had tickets for the launch of the STS 116. It was a really long day as we left Orlando at 10am and returned at 2.30 am the next day - and the launch was delayed. On reflection I would just drive to to Titusville and watch from there, apparently there is a pier near there that's an ideal viewing spot. I know it's no help now as the launch has been delayed but something to bear in mind for the future!:thumbsup2

We were in Orlando at the same time as the rocket launch a couple of weeks ago. Watched it live on the TV and saw it out our window from the Courtyard by Marriott on Vineland Ave. I should have taken one earlier but I was just amazed as this was my first "live" launch.
