I'm beginning to think I have made a mistake in my hotel choice.

I am taking my 6 year old DD on a mother/daughter Disneyland vacation for 4 nights - we leave tomorrow. I booked a vacation package and we are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn on South Harbor Blvd. The hotel itself looks fine, but I'm really confused about how we are going to get to the Park!! It is too far to walk for my DD (I think it's a couple of miles?)

I thought we could just buy ART passes (which some on here say is a nightmare:eek:), but this hotel doesn't sell them and doesn't have a kiosk near. Apparently the Embassy suites across the road sells them and has a stop? Can I just buy the passes from the Embassy? Is there any other way for us to get to the park without spending a fortune on cab fares?:confused3

Thanks for any advice you can offer. Changing hotels is not an option at this point unfortunately.

Yes, you can buy the ART Passes at other hotels. I wonder if crossing the street and using that stop might work out better for you. ( Make sure you get the multi day pass)

You can also buy a one way ticket from the drivers-- I don't suggest doing this as it would end up cost lots more and there is still the issue as to where to buy the Passes. Just letting you know as it is an option.

You can look up information on line for the ART. There will be a map color coded for each route Art travels. *Notice* They seem to take 2 hour lunch breaks so plan accordingly. I asked the driver each morning what lunch time was for that day.

I am not sure if your hotel has their own shuttle. Some do that are not very close to entrance.

Have fun. DD is a great age for enjoying Disneyland.

I stayed at the Homewood Suites last December. They had their own shuttle that was shared with a couple other hotels. It was very reliable - they left the hotel every half hour at scheduled times and they left DL every half hour at scheduled times. There were other hotel shuttles that picked up in the same area, right near the ART stops at DL. If ART does not serve your hotel, I'm willing to bet they have one of these private shuttles.

When I stayed at the Hyatt ( which is a stone's throw away from Hilton Garden Inn) we used the ART for 5 days. I had no issue with it whatsoever. I had a 3 year old at that time and a big jogger stroller to haul around and often the drivers would get up and help me put the stroller in the bus. We had a positive experience with the shuttle. This trip we have decided to stay across the street on Harbor because we want to just plop out the stroller and walk to the gates. I have heard that HGI is a nice place to stay and yes you can go to Embassy Suites to pick up a pass and board the bus. Don't worry, your trip will be a blast!:hippie:

The Sheraton Anaheim is very nice, has a lovely pool, and has its own dedicated shuttle.

Thanks all - I feel much better. I think I will just by the ART pass and board across the street at the Embassy... doesn't sound too complicated.

When I stayed at the Doubletree several years ago, I ordered my multi-day ART tickets online. They delivered them directly to the hotel and I was able to pick them up at the front desk the morning I arrived. Not sure they will do this with a hotel that does not have a kiosk, but may be worth looking into to save time.

Sjwillia - they don't. It's not that they don't have a kiosk, it's that they aren't a member hotel. I went online to buy my ART passes AFTER I booked the vacation package a month ago and that's when I realized that they weren't directly serviced by ART. I called the hotel a few days ago and he said they use PAC or something like that? Must be a private shuttle service - runs a little less frequently than ART and I think it's a bit more expensive.... I think I'll stick with ART, but will find out for sure when we arrive later this afternoon! :cool1:
