My dad and grandma are traveling to SoCal to visit my grandmas sister. she has alzheimers, and is quickly deteriorationg, so grandma wants to go see her before her memory is totally gone. Anyway, I got them flights to Orang County (John Wayne airport), now I need to get them from the airport to may great aunts house. she lives in Lakewood. My dad will use my Gr. Aunts car once they get to her houser, but for obvious reasons my Gr. Aunt cannot pick them up at the airport. So what is the cheapest way to get 2 seniors from JWA to a residence in Lakewood? I was planning on Super Shuttle, but am wondering if a taxi would be easier and or cheaper! thanks!!!

I know they aren't going to a DL area hotel, but I was hoping someone from the area would be able to give some advice! Thanks

I travel a lot for work, the general rule I use when picking a cab vs. a shuttle (looking for best value / least hassle) is the 10 mile rule. <I made this up>.

If it's less than 10 miles the extra cost for a cab is worth it, if more than 10 miles the lesser cost / less convenience of a van is a better value.

I have never flown into JW, but have used super shuttle and another one, can't remember their name but they have white vans with red letting on them within the last month (google shuttle and LAX they come up). SS had better vans, but both services got me where I had to go and I felt safe. $45 + tip from LAX to Pasadena for the white van and about $25 + for SS from Anaheim to LAX.

I know this isn't what you asked, but hope it helps :goodvibes.

Prime time were the white vans with the red lettering.

John Wayne to Lakewood is pretty far - I'd go for the shuttle. I live less than 1/2 that distance and it's $30 or so for a cab now -plus tip! Of course 2 can ride in a cab, and shuttles charge per person.

Last time I booked the local orange county cab co on-line and they were able to estimate the cost - it's the estimate link here: http://www.cayellow.com/
