So originally we were going to be @ WDW for the shuttle's return. Now with the change in schedule we'll be there for take off! So excited....

April 29 @ ~3:47 p.m.

Woot!

:cool1:

BTW....still looking for good viewing spot suggestions.

That's awesome :yay: !!! Hope it goes as planned pixiedust:

Do you know if this is the last scheduled launch ? ( I think it is but not 100% certain :confused3)

I don't really have experience trying to locate a good viewing location coming from WDW; we were visiting family in Palm Beach Gardens some years back and drove up from there to Melbourne beach but unfortunately shortly after we got there the launch was scrubbed :sad1: so I can't even say for sure how that location would be but there were many people there so based on that I'd say it probably was pretty good.

Enjoy & hope you'll post back about it :goodvibes

We recently saw Discovery go up. We were on the straight away as you were headed to World Showcase. There were benches there to sit on while we waited. We only saw a brief view due to the clouds. One thing that helped tremendously was that one woman was on the phone with someone watching on tv. She called out the countdown so we knew when to really search the horizon. Sure enough, there it was blazing through the sky. I really hope you see it, it was a really moving experience.

They've added one more for Atlantis in June but I don't believe it has been funded yet by Congress.

OOOH ! Maybe it will get approved and then shifted to July and I can catch it!

I hope it works out for you to see. We were dummies back in 2002 on our first DVC trip. We drove from Vero to WDW and the launch happened within minutes of reaching WDW. We drove right by there and didn't even know there was a launch. We could have kicked ourselves!!! We did see the shuttle from OKW. It was easily visable even from there.

We have even made special trips to FL from CT to view launches, We drive to Titusville and park at the Comfort Inn for a fee. Our hit rate is 50%. We have seen Discovery and Atlantis launch. Wonderful! It was on DH's bucket list!

Disappointed--we hoped to see the launch on the 19th.

Oh well...

We watched a shuttle launch from the beach area at Wilderness Lodge. It was great. We were looking out over the lake and the tree line and all of a sudden there was a huge, bright orange glow rising up over the trees. We didn't have anything special to view it with, so you can't make out the shuttle itself, but it was still something spectacular to see in the distance. I can't remember how long we watched, but you could still easily see the trail for quite a long time. Hope the launch stays on as scheduled so that you have a chance to enjoy it. :yay:

Hope yours is not postponed. We were at Vero Beach when one launch was scheduled and got up early to see it from the balcony, but it ended up being postponed.......again.

Just heard on morning news Rep.Gabrielle Giffords will attend launch to see her hub Capt. Mark Kelly pilot Endeavor into orbit pending medical approval. Hope she gets to be there.

:)
