hiya this being my first trip to florida i wonder if anyone could tell me if we will be able to see the space shuttle in the sky after launch from disney we will have loads to do without making a special trip to the kennedy space centre but it will be kinda special being there on the 28th aug first time and seeing the space shuttle many thanks.

dont want to disappoint you too much, but there are rumours already that the launch will be delayed.

You won't have any trouble seeing the shuttle from WDW. Mind you, it will just be a big ball of fire  and you will be unlikely to make out the actual orbiter.

It really is worth going out to KSC for launch. A spectacular sight.

Hi There,

We were lucky enough to see a space launch a few years ago(well about 20 actually). We had gone to visit KSC and there was a launch the following day.

At the time you were not allowed within a 3 mile radius, so trips to Cocoa beach were arranged and everyone watched it from there.

It was fantastic, yes it does only look like a Fireball, but the noise (sound barrier etc is awesome, and I got some good pics.

The atmosphere was fantastic, with everyone being on the beach and watching it together, it was nearing dusk too, which is a lovely time.

Hope you get chance to see it, if it goes ahead.

I Am Also Hoping To Watch The Shuttle Launch On The 28 August As This Will Be My First Time To Disney With Dd Ds And Dh,also This Is The Day Of My Birthday, Was Looking To Spend The Previous Night At Coco Beach

we saw the one on 7th feb from a free park near titusville, there are loads of free places to view it, ksc charges loads for a viewing and its so busy the traffic queues for ages

Just on this topic is there an easy way to get to KSC from Orlando if you do not have your own car?

I'd say go to Titusville as the view from there is supposed to be excellent. We had tickets for a December launch that got cancelled on the day. Us and thousands of others drove all the way over to KSC and were disappointed to hear them say come back tomorrow.
The tickets are non-refundable but you can use them to come back when its rescheduled.

Unfortunately for us the launch was delayed until February :sad1: so we missed out.

Would It Help Us If We Travelled Down The Day Before And Stayed In A Hotel In Titusville As We Also Dont Have A Car, What Would Be The Best Way To Get There, And What Would Be The Approximate Cost.

I live in the u.k and saw a shuttle launch in 2000, i would recommend it.
at that time the coach picked us up in front of cirque de soleil (downtown Disney) at about 4am for the drive to KSC, We looked around the museum, the coach then took us to the launch site.Following the launch
we went back to ksc, then at about 5pm drove back to orlando.
I cannot remember the cost but it was well worth it.
The thing i remember is seeing the shuttle take off in eiry silence, then 4 or 5 seconds later being hit by a wall of rocket noise and crowds cheering.
At the time our son was 2 and my wife stayed at Disney, everytime we watch the home movie, she says how much she regrets not going.
