Shuttle launch was awesome from VB!

I took the kids over to breakfast at the resort and then we watched the shuttle launch from the lawn.

It was great!

It wasn't nearly as exciting as a night launch but we still got a little emotional.

I did take pictures. Maybe DH can post them later.

I'm sure the view would be better as you get closer to the Cape but you can sure see it just fine from the resort.

Yes indeed. I have also seen a launch from VB. (Although I was there for work, rather than vacation. )
I was actually standing at The Ocean Grill entrance!

The resort was very busy.

I promise I'll try and get some pictures up. They aren't great as I just held my camera up in the air and snapped. I just hope they give an idea of what you can actually see from the resort.

I would love to see a night launch again.

That is so great that you got to take the kids over to see it! I was just saying today that I hope at some point, I am able to see one semi-close.

How great that you were able to see the launch. I too would love to see your pictures. As I watched the launch on TV, I was wondering how many DIS'er were able to see it live.

You always get a good view of it over the Espn building at bw especially at night

We were at VB in Oct 2002 (I think) and drove over to near the Cape to watch it launch. We weren't able to get tickets, but got pretty darn close. Anyway, our neighbors stayed at the beach and watched it from there - and they too said it was a spectacular view from VB. Plus, they didn't take a few hours out of their vacation time to enjoy - they just stopped playing at the beach - watched it - then continued on. I hope we get to experience that again some day. It is amazing!

Awesome! We thought we'd have a shot at watching the launch, but missed it by 2 days! We were at Port Canaveral Thurs and left the ship Sun. I did get to see it a few years ago (was a evening launch) right before the Luau. It was awesome. I love to go to CC and see it from there some day! I'm happy you got to see it!
