Shuttle Launch Reminder

Has anybody mention the space shuttle is scheduled to launch this Sunday (8/27) at 4:30pm-ish?

If you are on Disney property, just look east (sun to your back) and on a clear day you should see the flame and plume of the rockets.

That is very cool...I hope there is a launch when we are there, but maybe not since that's not till December. Last time we were there they cancelled the scheduled launch.

Anybody who is there this i a cool thing to see. IT goes quick though. i was there in 1996 and just happend to see this while on the beach of GF and caught what i could on tape got enough to be impressive though.

We have been lucky enough to see it twice at WDW!! The first time it was at night during MVMCP in 2000. It was during the fireworks and they stopped the fireworks for a few moments so that everyone could watch the shuttle rise into the night sky and then when it started to go out of sight they started the fireworks again. What made it even better was that we had been to Kennedy Space Center the week before and had seen the shuttle on the launch pad!

This last trip, last month on the Fourth of July, we were at EPCOT and I forgot that the shuttle was going to launch that day. I noticed that several CM's in the UK section were outside by the railing to the lake all looking up to the sky. Then I remembered what they were looking at and gathered my family to watch it too. It was very cool to see it again, but a little harder to see in the daylight.

We were @ the space center to see it on the pad earlier this month. I'd love to be able to see it actually go up!

Unfortunately, it's been scrapped for Sunday. We had tickets but it's a no-go.
