Shuttle Launch Reminder - Tonight 3/11/09

All,

Just a reminder, if all goes as planned the Space Shuttle will be launched tonight at 9:20pm. If you are anywhere on Disney World property, just ask a cast member which direction is due East.
If you are at Epcot to watch IllumiNations, try to stand on the west side (between Canada and France) and you should see it rise up somewhere around the Mexico pavilion. Triple treat tonight, IllumiNations (with Flame Barge), Full Moon, and Space Shuttle launch.
Also remember with the impending end of the Shuttle program, this may be one of the last night time launches.

I'll be watching from my front yard again...there's nothing like seeing the night sky turn orange and then the shuttle appearing from behind the trees!

Awesome sight!! They were saying on news 13 this morning that everyone up towards Rhode Island will be able to see it, since the skies down here will be so clear! If you don't have local clouds that is. Florida is pretty much clear today, so just about everyone in florida should be able to see it, if they look the right way! Enjoy All!!!

Launch Scrubbed for Wednesday

The STS-119 launch was scrubbed at 2:37 p.m. EDT due to a hydrogen leak in a Liquid Hydrogen vent line between the shuttle and the external tank. The launch team is currently beginning the process of draining the external fuel tank. We'll turn around for launch attempt tomorrow at 8:54 p.m. EDT.

So, that puts it just before IllumiNations on Thursday Night.

yeah and it was my night off and I was all prepared to drive to the coast. Darn! Hopefully when they reschedule it will still be a night launch. If it's tomorrow, I have to work(the only day in the next week I'm working mind you)

Now they are projecting a launch of Sunday evening around 7pm, so with DST this would not be considered a night launch. But, I will be working at Bayside Marina and be able to watch from the dock on the bay (and whistling I guess).

I heard on the radio this morning they are trying for 7:54pm on Sunday but I'm not holding my breath. I've been through this enough to know better.
