Shuttle Launch 12/07

If you are wrong then so am I. I'm hoping for sometime the 10th - 15th. We went to KSC last year on our way home and DS is still talking about it. Very cool place to visit.

Ditto! We'll be there from December 8-11! Does anyone here know anyone at NASA that takes bribes who could force a scrub? ;)

We went to KSC in '05 and I really enjoyed it - DW, not so much.

We are going to Kennedy on the 8th. Here's hoping something minor delays it so we can see it!

I am hoping for a delay. We arrive on the 8th so I am hoping for bad weather.

Cool! We'll be looking up at MVMCP.

(And you delayers - you can get it delayed until the 11th but then we go home the next day. ;) )

Has anyone ever "gone" to a launch ? I've heard that you have to pay quite a bit just to get close enough to see it. Is it worth looking into ?

You don't have to pay anything. Just drive over to the cape and pull off the road to watch. You'll see plenty of others doing the same. Bear in mind that launches are often scrubbed though.

I would be alright with a delay untill the 10th or 11th!!!!!! We dont arrive untill the 10th. :rotfl2:

It is quite awesome and something I hope DD can see someday (or this dec,)

Count me as another who was bummed it got moved up from Dec 14! We are there Dec 9-16 as well and I had things all planned out! I know things can be moved, but I am SO hoping for a scrub until a couple days later!

According to DryDay, Dec 7 has a higher chance of rain...I'm hoping they are correct and they hold off until at least the 9th!

Add us to the list of people HOPING for a launch during MVMCP. We've never seen a live launch before. How awesome is being at Disney and watching the space shuttle at the same time? :thumbsup2

Here are a couple of pics from the July 4, 2006 launch. We were at Cocoa Beach on the first and the shuttle was scrubbed due to weather. We then fought traffic for 3 hours back to Orlando.. I will never make that mistake again..

First shot.. If you look closely, you can see the orange glow behind the engines.. So a night time launch would be way cool from WDW.

Second Shot.. You can see the light from the engine if you zoom in..

Wow, great directions WillCAD! I'll be at MVMCP with you on the 7th, hoping for a post-Wishes launch since my partner's sister seems to think I have magical powers at WDW anyway (I arranged a dinner at Narcoossee's her first visit at the right time to just get seated when the fireworks started :thumbsup2 )...

A few days ago I read NASA was considering moving the launch date up to avoid having astronauts in space at the end of the year. They've never had a shuttle in space on New Year's Eve and aren't 100% sure all of their computers can roll over a calendar year property. The mission is schedule for around 10 days, but with glitches they may be in space longer, so that's why they may move the date up to give them enough time to bring the astronauts home before January 1st.

We live 45 minutes west of Orlando and we were able to stand out in our front yard this past September and see the shuttle launch. We can't wait to experience our first night launch.

To all of you hoping for a delay so you can see the launch, I hope it happens for you. With the way the last two launches have gone, your odds are good!! They were both delayed!!

We did too! We're actually having "dinner" with an astronaut-- I hope the shuttle goes on schedule!! I'm anticipating lots of crowds, etc., :crowded: but it's probably a once in a lifetime chance for us (living in Colorado as we do), so it will be worth a shot. Here's hoping! :flower1:

::yes:: When I worked at Disney, we drove out three times to see the shuttle launch. Each time the traffic was worse because I guess people were hoping that THAT would be the night! :rotfl: If I were already at the beach, I'd go, but no way will I do the drive from Orlando again. (Oh, crud, on that note - I hope it's NOT the 10th! We'll be in Melbourne and I don't want to fight traffic all the way back!)

I used to live in Orlando, and I can remember seeing the space shuttle while I was out on the playground. I will be in Orlando on 12.07, more specifically at MVMCP, so I would love my children to experience this as well!

I think the December 7th date is the already adjusted date. For the longest time, this launch was scheduled for the 15th of December. Within the past month or so, they moved the date to the 7th.

:cool1: I AM SO EXCITED!! DH AND I have wanted to see a launch forever!!! I emailed everyone else in our party because I know my bil will be jumping up and down with excitement :Pinkbounc about that part of our trip!!

Please don't change the date... :goodvibes

I'm at OKW right now but I will be going to Vero saturday. If they scrub the launch the 7th and pick saturday how early do the roads get congested? Can I go from a more southern route and if I can which way. And this is only if this scenario happens. Thanks.
