Hi,
Just got an update from NASA about the next shuttle launch (STS-113) and it is slated in to go on 22/11/02 at the earliest, unless there are further delays we will miss the launch but we will hopefuly be about for the landing (3/12/02)Is there anywhere at KSC where we can view the landing ? And if anyone on these boards has ever seen one is it worth the trip?

Mick.

Hi,

IMHO sorry to say this, but it's not worth watching a shuttle landing. It's like watching a DC-10 land at Gatwick airport from 6 miles away (thats if you are fortunate enough to be in KSC and there is no cloud cover). The next closest place is Titusville, which is 10 miles from the runway.

Because the shuttle is a glider, you don't really hear much aswell (except for the sonic booms as it comes through the atmosphere).

The one to watch is the launch. You never know, it could get postponed and hopefully you get to see it. We have seen two launches now and the second got postponed, by a few days, due to the threat of a hurricane on mission control, Houston.

Hope this helps

Paul
