I'm not sure if this actually answers your question, but for my upcoming trip I plan on buying a Bubblebum (blow-up) booster seat for my son.

I'm sick of carting around cumbersome car seats or paying heaps to hire them, so have been meaning to buy a bubblebum for years.

I saw the other day that I can get one with some leftover air points so will buy one and give it a try. Nothing to lose
