Shuttle bus from BG to SW?

We have a Gulf Coast vacation planned for July, and we're getting a little nervous about the possibility of oil being an issue. So we're considering visiting SW & BG if we are unable to use the beach.

We'll be staying outside of Tampa, and saw that there is a shuttle offered to SW. Has anyone used this? Would it be better to just drive yourself? any info is appreciated!

I hope you don't have to worry about the beach on the Gulf. But if worse comes to worse I would just drive to SW . The park stays open late and the bus may not stay till the close. I would check what time it heads back to Tampa before booking the bus.
