Does anyone have any recent pictures of Shutters restaurant? How was the food and the service? I get to pick our meal for our first night in WDW. Trying to figure out the best for all. We only have one more week til we need to make our ADR's. Thanks in advance.:tinker:

We went to Shutters for the first (and last) time this past December. We just arrived at CBR from the airport and thought we would get a decent meal (portion/taste). We both ordered a drink and started with apps. (weren's sure if we were going to order a meal and just do apps) We got the chicken wings that people raved about. No explanation of the sauces and then we were left alone. Finally waved down our waitress and asked for the bill (took forever) then paid by charge (took forever). We left and grabbed some munchies from the food court and took those back to the room.

We weren't impressed. I am sure you will hear other opinions!

Shutters at CBR was the only disappointment we had out of 10 TS meals in 2006. DH's steak tasted like liver, my entree (pasta of some sort -- can't remember exactly what it was) was just as bad and our three DDs weren't impressed with their meals either (one adult meal, 2 kids meals). We gave up at an ADR at Boatwrights (which I haven't heard many good things about either) and we regretted it. We aren't very particular, we can usually find something good to say about every meal, and the only good thing about Shutters was the onion rings. The entrees were pretty bad. :sad2:

Thanks for the replies. Not sounding good if 2 bad reviews right away. LOL, you may have saved me a headache. My daughter was thinking Whispering Canyon. I wasn't too thrilled with the idea, but have noticed a lot of positive feedback about WC. :dumbo:

I don't have pics...but we went there in 2004, and it was one of the all time worst meals that I have had at WDW!!! The food was lousy, as was the service. It was just a disappointing meal all around. Now, I know that was 4 years ago, so maybe things have changed, but I know we will not be returning there.

I have to say WC is pretty good. I can only comment on the skillet...that is all I have tried on my numerous trips there!Thought it was quite yummy!

Thanks for the opinions. We will not be trying Shutter's at all this trip. We have instead decided on Whispering Canyon. I feel it important to have our first sit down meal at WDW to be enjoyable and satisfying. :tigger:

We had a great meal in October. The service was excellent and the food was well prepared. It was one of our favorite meals last trip/ My DGD has food allergies and the Chef made a point o discuss the menus options for her but then also gave us advice regarding CS options for the rest of the week. Kady was celebrating her 6th birthday and all of the CM's along with the Chef came out to sing to her.

this place is the WORST ts I have ever had.I ate there before the refurb when it became Shutters and after it was Shutters. Both times were terrible. The latest was last year. The prime rib was a slab of fat iwth a small piece of raw meat around it, and the service was worse. This is only my opinion, I know other people have liked it well enough. We are just not one of those people.

Positive review warning!

While I have only eaten at Shutters once (about three years ago) we liked it muchly. We plan on eating there again this September.

Like the guy said on a previous thread: If you eat at a place once, and things are bad, they may be just having a bad night. Eat there again and things are just the same, then maybe it's a problem. I feel that way about the Sci-Fi in DHS. First time was great, last time was...disappointing. I'll give them another chance in a few years.

We'll be trying it in September.

And let me say that shutters is a turn off.I'm surprised the management at the cbr havent shuttered it for good. You can get spoiled in disney with 4-5 star meals, but i assure you this place will not spoil you.I actually plan our hotel stay around the convenience of the hotels restaraunt . We were very dissapointed not only with the distance from our room to shutters but also the overall experience.. I'd rather stay at the contemporary with the convenience of chef mickeys.

If your stay is determined by the proximity of the restaurants the large Moderates are not for you. I agree that CBR is a large rambling resort and if you did not book a preferred room it is possible to be located a fair distance from the restaurant and food court. My family stayed in Martinique in October enjoyed the layout of this resort. I will say that the theming was the reason we chose this resort, although my DD and DSIL were disappointed in the bus service. They are hooked on monorail travel and so for them the Poly is the best resort.

One of our best meals on that trip was at Shutters. Our entrees were cooked perfectly, our server was attentive, the Chef came out to ensure that my DGD had plenty of safe choices fro her meal, and the staff got together to come out together to wish her a Happy Birthday along with soy ice cream treat. It was busy that night so we did not expect that kind of treatment but appreciated the effort made to make child's birthday trip even more magical.

Dinner service is very subjective, what is a comfortable experience for me may be less than stellar for you. My DH loves high rise hotels and would like to go back to CR but the rest of us have no desire to stay in a resort that reminds me of a giant toaster. I love AKL and would stay there again in a heartbeat but the rest of my crew wants the Poly. I like indoor corridors, they do not. I love the food at Boma, I cannot get anyone in my family to join me ever again. The food was cooked well, they just hated it. None of us will ever eat at Le Cellier again but it is a DIS favorite. They hated the feeling of eating in a cellar....we should have paid more attention to the name ;)

Aside from the location of Shutters, what else happened there to make you dislike it? Was the food and service at fault or the atmosphere? Just curious.

DH & I ate at Shutters Dec 08. We enjoyed our meal very much. I ordered the pasta (believe it had shrimp in it). I thought it was very good. Can't remember what he had.

The ADR was at 7pm, the restaurant wasn't crowded or noisy. We really enjoyed that since we had been at the noisier restaurants and we were ready for some quiet. I would eat there again.

We also ate at WC. Very noisy, but they tell you that. I had the prime rib. very good. DH ordered meatloaf, didn't know it came with barbeque sauce (neither of us it that).. told the waiter. He came back out with one without the sauce. DH said it was very good.

I'm going again this Dec. with DD & DD's Financee (Spelling???). She believes that WC should be enjoyed with a large group of people. I thought it was cute especially if you have kids.

Yesterday, while calling for Mickey's Christmas Party tickets, the CM asked me if I made ADR's yet and then went on and on about Shutters. "Be sure to eat there at least once." So I searched it here. Seems to be mostly negative so maybe we'll go only if we are too tired one night to wander out.

I just love reading comments here. This one by Nancyg56..."My DH loves high rise hotels and would like to go back to CR but the rest of us have no desire to stay in a resort that reminds me of a giant toaster. ." :rotfl2:

We've stayed at CBR and we love it there so we'll be staying there again this year. That being said, last year we ate at Shutters on our last night and used our last TS. This was the worst TS meal we had. The service was ok, but the food was just lacking compared to some of the other TSs that we'd had during our stay. We ate at buffets and family style and sit down TS, but comparatively the food was not up to Disney standards. I had the Prime Rib and it was over cooked, DH had the Caribean Jerk Ribs and they were very fatty. Overall, we ate at better places. We won't eat there this year, but we do love the CS at CBR!!!!!

We chose resorts on all the amenities, including the exoctic feel of the resort, and now the new pool only adds to it for us. Will we miss eating a TS meal at our resort, No, not really.
