Shutters picture availability question - do you have to monitor your pictures?

It says in the Navigator that photos are only available for 5 hours on the system (I assume that means to be claimed). Do you have to or should you go down to check for photos at least once and maybe twice a day or are they pretty good at assigning photos to your account?

I'm not sure what the "available for 5 hours" thing is all about. But, while they do a fairly good job about making sure photos get into the correct folders, it's not a bad idea to periodically check your folder to confirm that special shot you had taken made it in there.

Most people who check do it once a day, if they have a lot of photos taken, I believe. But others - maybe every day or two. Definitely before the last full day they should be checked.

EDIT: I looked at a Navigator what they are saying is that photos taken are available to be viewed 5 hours after being taken, not that they are only available for viewing for 5 hours.

"Please note that photos are available for viewing on our interactive photo kiosks approximately five hours after being taken and are only available for purchase during this cruise."

One of the big ones that everyone suggests to check for, on the Dream, the Aquaduck does take a picture and a lot of times those don't get associated to your account.

On the Fantasy, when we cruised in mid December, no aquaduck photos were taken. When we asked the vendor about it they said it had been broken for months. Not sure if it's still broken and hopefully they have addressed it by now.

I was disappointed there were no aquaduck pictures as we had purchased the full package and had looked forward to those pics.

I overheard another woman very upset that the aquaduck photos weren't working as she said that was the only reason she had purchased the package, to get pictures like that of her family which she wouldn't be able to take herself.

I'd suggest going once a day so that it's easier to notice if there are any missing pictures.

On our 14 night cruise, I probably found 5+ pictures per day that did not make it in to our folio. Even though they scan your card, they only use facial recognition software, so pics of DD telling a character a secret, or dancing with them never showed up in our folio...also, we bought the prints and digitals package and only about 75% of our pictures got printed...I had to go in and manually request the photo be printed and added to our folio.

Shutters now only prints some of the pictures in the full digital package. And those are the only prints they do. The "full" refers to the fact that you get all your photos digitally, and whatever prints they deem to print up to include in your hard copy folder onboard.

From the My Cruise Photos FAQ:
How many printed photos will I receive if I order the "All Your Digital Photos + Prints" package?
With this package, you will receive all your digital photos on a disc and any photo that is printed and displayed in the Photo Gallery (note: ALL photos may not be printed). You are not guaranteed to have one printed copy of each of your digital photos; only whatever is contained in your folder.

Oh what a rip off!!! I would be so mad if that were the case when we cruised.

When we were on the Fantasy in August the AquaDuck pictures were broken too. They made it sound like a very recent and temporary thing. I wonder how long it has been since they worked on the Fantasy.

Where do you look for the aqua duck pics.

If you are on the Dream (since the Aqua duck camera seems to still work on that one), you can go to Shutters Digital terminals and search by day and time to find your pics from the Aqua duck. Be aware the digital terminals are only functioning when Shutters is open, which is NOT all the time. This was not obvious to us and we spent several minutes trying to get the terminals to work, only to understand later that they wouldn't work when Shutters was "closed."

That's a good tip, Anchors' Away 2016. Thanks. I'd be one of those people cursing at the terminals and trying to get them to work. :rolleyes1
