Anricat - I'm not sure if my cruise has a formal night. I'm guessing it probably doesn't since it's only 4 nights. I guess I should contact Disney Cruise and ask what the dress attire is for our vacation?!

In general, most onboard dining locations are "cruise casual,” so casual attire, such as shorts and T-shirts, is permitted, with the exception of swimwear and tank tops. Most cruises have special theme nights that provide opportunities to dress up for a one-of-a-kind family photo. Here's a breakdown of special dress events by cruise itinerary:


4-night cruises:

• First night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops
• One pirate night themed deck party
• One optional dress-up night—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
• Final night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops

That's about the only "dress code" that DCL has "no swimwear or tank tops for dinner".

I find the dining rooms fairly cool (read that as cold), so shorts and a tank top could be a bit uncomfortable.

Indeed. The theatre is also chilly. I was in a sweater every night. Well, except the night I was wearing my Halloween costume which had big shoulder pauldrons (armor). Didn't work out. I had to suck it up!

But, yes, on a 4 night you'll have an optional dress up and it's a great excuse to get the family all cleaned up and into the atrium for portraits. My DD was over the moon at getting to wear "high heels." (Not super high, but a slight little "heel" and she was so excited.) She also had a special necklace and a nice little dress.

I'm glad it is an OPTIONAL dress up because my husband does not want to get dressed up. I guess I could still wear a tank top but put a sweater over top of it, right? I have a princess Anna gown for my daughter to wear on the cruise.
