Shutters made me shudder

I'm not sure if it was just and off night or what but the service at Shutters was not up to par with the other places I've eaten at since I've been at Disney. It wasn't horrible, it just seemed like they were a bit short staffed.

What really threw me for a loop was the $101 bill. I was very glad I had the dining plan, I would have been highly upset if I had to pay cash for this.

The food was not terrible, but it was not worth $101. I don't care that is in a Disney resort. We ate at Boatwright's the first night we were here and the food was absolutely amazing and it was $95. I know that's not a big difference in price but there was a massive difference in quality.

Like I said, I'm on the dining plan so it's not like I paid that price up front, but if I had to, I would not of been a happy camper.

Shutters has always looked and felt and served like an afterthought. We LOVED the TS restaurant at CBR when it was Captain's Tavern....best jerk chicken I had ever had. Shutters just feels like a more colorful Denny's, really.

We stayed at CBR a number of years ago. All of the reviews I read about Shutters told me that it was awful. We never ate there. I guess it hasn't improved.

We ate there last September and I had the exact opposite experience. We loved it! The food was really good and we were surprised we liked it so much. The place seems to be a hit or miss though.

I'm guessing it was an off night which seems to happen at pretty much every Disney restaurant now and then. Reviews the past couple of years seem to indicate this place has become a hidden gem. We never got around to trying it while we were at CBR last year but the other guests we talked to all raved about it. Hoping to try it next time around.

We ate at Shutters 3 years ago and actually quite enjoyed our meal. I knew that reviews had been mixed but it was convenient since we were also staying at CBR. I will be honest though, we didn't notice the cost because we were on the dining plan.

Our last dinner there was quite enjoyable so I would agree with the last few reviews I've read that were positive ones. And these were by reputable Disney bloggers. So perhaps you had an off night where they were in fact short staffed. As for the prices - I would think it would depend on what you ordered. We seldom have 2 dinners that cost the same. And prices are readily available. Since they're printed on the menu, the amount of the bill at the end of the night shouldn't throw you for a loop.

Shutters was one of my favorite meals on last year's trip, and the service was A+!

Wow, our experience couldn't have been any further from that.

Maybe the PPs local Denny's also serves crab cakes, shrimp & grits, and Caribbean influenced entrees. I think I need to visit Minnesota.
