Do they still have the food cart to show you the menu items (meat cuts)? If so do they still have the live lobster (out of water) clicking himself to death on the cart?

They didn't have this "tradition" in New York and I'm hoping it's been eliminated in Orlando.

Can anyone confirm?

:wave2: Hi PP!

I am gonna say "YES" only because I have a good friend who is an area director for Shula's and I mentioned that to him (because I remember it from the Miami Lakes Shula's and I found it disturbing) and he said, "Oh yeah...it is our "thing" now...everyone seems to know about it." So not sure if he means it is a gimmick or what. I told him they ought to lead a cow out by a rope with the different cuts of meat mapped out on it's sides with magic marker to present the steaks.

They had the presentation in December. It was a very interesting dining experience. We really did enjoy the meal.

The last time we were there they brought out the cart. Morton's did the same thing when we ate there a few years ago.

I know Shula's is awesome...but DANG...they sure do make it difficult for me to order the lobster! :sad2:

Hi WLL,
I find it disturbing as well and I was going to eat at Shula's this Sunday but now I think it'll be The Palm or Del Frisco's ... or maybe Tchoup Chop.

RE: The lobster, I know it's an illogical feeling on my part, but ... I don't really know what further to say without sounding silly, contradictory or ... well, illogical. :confused3

They rolled out the cart with the dancing lobster for our dinner on 05/07/06.

Third visit to Shula's, and probably our last...not good.

Try Blue Zoo in the Dolphin, most excellent!

Oh no! :guilty:

I already hesitate on V&A because of my childhood love of the deer, bunnies and ducks that used to visit my aunt's backyard. Now, lobster at Shula's?

Lobster and seafood never used to bother me, but now I will have this image in my head! :sad2:

PP-yup, it is illogical... hypocritical almost...but I am right there with ya! I think part of "our" problem (if I may try and speak for you, please) is that they have the lobster out of it's element (water) for an extended period of time. It is bad enough we are going to kill and devour it, but do we have to make it's final moments so uncomfortable? :confused3

That's it! I agree.

Come on Shula's, at least put the little guy back into a nice acquarium for his final hours. :)
