Help us decide which one...we will be dining with children. Thanks:goodvibes

I would go to Yachtsman's Steakhouse. DH and I used the free babysitting when we ate at Shula's. I don't think my kids would have enjoyed it there. I did take the boys to Yachtsman's and they loved it.

We have dined at both and loved both. With kids, I would go for YSH.

I agree. IMO, Shula's is the least kid-friendly restaurant on WDW property. It also has the beat steak, hands down.

How old are your kids? Are they over 4 and would like a kids' club? The Dolphin's kids club is included for FREE for two hours while you eat at Shula's. If you get there early enough they will even feed your kids.

We haven't eaten at Shula's, but the YSH is AMAZING!

It was the best steak I have ever eaten!

YSH, well renowned for bugs in the food or Shula's family farm Prime beef? ...

Yep, I'd take Shula's...

Shula's is the best steak in Disney.

We have only eaten at the YS and I can tell you from experience that everything was wonderful and delicious! The atmosphere is very relaxing and my 2 DSs also enjoyed themselves.

I want to encourage the OP (once again) to skip Shula's with children.

The restaurant is VERY dark. You can barely see the food in front of you. There is NO kids menu and EVERYTHING is ala carte. In addition, they show you examples of the food that you can order, including the LIVE 2 lb Maine Lobster who is gasping in the air on a platter.

If her kids can go to the Dolphin Club (or if they are much older) then I would suggest Shula's. Otherwise, the YSH is also quite good and embraces well behaved children.

My DH & DS9 ate at Shulas last week (while DD12 & I shopped in DTD) & they LOVED it!

Keep in mind that the bill for just the 2 of them came to about $140.00 (before tip).

DS9 is very well-behaved & a serious steak eater, so it worked out great for them.

We have eaten at both in the same trip with our three kids whom at the time were 5, 3, 2. Yachtsmen was our worst Diney dining experience EVER! The quality of the food, the service, everything horrible. We rarely complain, but complained big time over that deal. Shulas was an unexpected surpirise. We were looking for a good dinner. A CM at BC recommended it. We LOVED it! The food was amazing! THe kids were very well looked after. Yes they don't have a children's menu, but They suggested ordering one entree and then dividing amongst three plates. I expected it to come out on one plate and then divide it myself, the kitchen however, was kind enough to seperate and and arrange it beautifully on 3 seperate plates. The wait staff was wonderful with my kids and very attentive to them. We were in there almost three hours enjoying a wonderful night out and dinner as a family. It' s not for everyone though. We take our kids with us to nice restaurants so they are use to that atmosphere and we steer clear of typical child fare items, like hotdogs and such. When we are at a nice restaurant, we all order something nice. So they are use to beef, fish etc... Not all kids like that and in that case I would put them in the club and not miss the opporunity for such a great dinner!

When I called to make our ADR the CM actually told me "most parents don't take their children to Shula's". I am assuming this was in regards to my question the "free" baby sitting. Then he suggested I make a family ADR at YSH and a couples ADR at Shula's. Also, he pointedly told me that they charge for sharing and that there are no kids meals. Also, take a look at the menus (AllEarsNet.com). This might help you decide. Shula's is a bit pricey for a family.

Yachtsman=LeCellier=California Grill in terms of food-food quality.

"9/10 blindfolded park guests couldn't tell the difference!"

Shulas is head and shoulders above these in terms of food.:cool2:
