Shula's or Yachtsman?

Hello, everyone! I am trying to decide between Shula's or Yachtsman's for dinner on my husbands and I's vacation. We are torn between the two, although we have never personally eaten at either of the restaurants. We both love a great steak and I would love to hear which one you would prefer. Thanks!

My personal opinion is Shulas. I've eaten 3 times at Yachtsman and each time I felt like I was eating from a salt lick. Others rave about the place but for us it's a no go.

We are big Yachtsman fans. Love the food there. PP did not and my guess is you are going to get very mixed reviews (as you will for most WDW restaurants). My advice is just pick one and go with it. There's a very good chance you will enjoy it very much. While WDW restaurants are inconsistent, I would say we get 1 bad experience every 2 or 3 trips. Not scientific, but I'd estimate we get good TS meals about 90% of the time. The odds are in your favor.

We have dined at both, and both are good, and both have left us less than satisfied a time or two. So pick the one with the menu and ambience that suits you best and go for it.

I give the edge to Yachtsman. But, more for atmosphere - and noting I do like a heavier hand with seasoning. Shula's is good. But, it feels a bit more like "the Sheraton" vs. "the Dolphin" for me (noting that I enjoy Swan/Dolphin quite a bit - and a dinner at Shula's is a way to get Starwood points, if needed). And, I'm not a massive sports fan, so the theme is less intriguing for me. Those are my main distinguishing factors.

As others have said, I would anticipate a mixed response here - suggesting both are mostly on a level playing field. I think either would be a good choice for you!

Eaten at both, Yachtsman once, Shulas 5+ times, Shula's wins every vacation for us.

We like both, usually eat at both on most trips. Yachtsman for the whole experience, Shula's for the better food.

Yachtsman vote here. Everything that came out we tasted was fantastic. Split the porterhouse for two with sides and did not disappoint.

Shula's - I give the food an edge here, and its much quieter. Yachtsman's theme is a better though (I forget I have to block out the sportsball at Shula's, I don't even know which sportsball Shula's is about), and as I just mentioned in another post - their garlic is delicious.

We've done both multiple times. Between the two, our choice is Yachtsman every time. Their filet is better than Shula.

We are doing Yachtsman's for my birthday on a quick trip we just decided to take in June. I haven't eaten at Schula's at WDW before but I have eaten at probably 3 or 4 different Schula's across the country. My vote would be for Yachtsman simply because there are Schula's all over the place so it wouldn't feel like having a special dinner at a WDW restaurant to me, just a dinner at a chain restaurant (granted a really GOOD chain restaurant). But then again I don't buy anything at Starbucks while I'm at WDW. I can get Starbucks at just about any street corner in the US.

we tried Yachtsman for the 1st time in 2015 & decided to try Shula's earlier this month to compare. We all preferred Yachtsman. The menu offered sides with their steaks that were changeable & we appreciated the diversity of the menu for appetizers. We also enjoyed our interaction with our server Raymond from Yachtsman. A PP mentioned that everyone will have a different opinion so you should compare the menus & see which one really interests you. I also enjoyed the view/decor at Yachtsman where Shula's is on the interior of the hotel, so a lot darker & very manly with the football theme & dark wood finishes.

Our last trip DH and I dined at Shula's. Actually went to eat at Blue Zoo but ended up just having cocktails there. Lively atmosphere and really great dirty martini's with blue cheese stuffed olives but way too hyper for what we were looking for. Lots and lots of convention goers having fun but not for us. Anyway. we were able to walk right into Shula's and decided to go the split route. Ordered an incredible Cabernet and split the chilled seafood plate (lobster, shrimp, crabmeat etc), then on to a split wedge salad and finally finished with the large cut sirloin. They were happy to split everything. The only thing our awesome server couldn't do was cut the sirloin in half. Totally get it. DH and I work in the industry and we understand "chef" lol. Very memorable dinner.

We have been to Yachtsman many times and have always enjoyed it. It isn't the best steak in the world, but is very good, and the restaurant is quite nice, and in a good location. We tried Shula's a few years ago, as it was supposed to be better, but we just did not agree. The two were pretty on par with one another, as far as we were concerned. We have been to Yachtsman since, but have no desire to return to Shula's. I don't think you can really go wrong either way though.

Shula's for the quality of meat, YS for atmosphere. You might consider STK at Disney Springs. Had dinner there last year and the food was some of the best we've ever had at WDW(certainly better than YS or Shula's.) They have a DJ spinning dance music, if that's not your thing get an early ADR (I think the dj starts around 6-6:30.)
