Shrinking Tink: Trading Pounds for Pixie Dust

This made me snort laugh out loud. At work. Not the prettiest thing imaginable but THAT was damn funny.

A girl after my own heart. :lovestruc

Glad I can make you laugh! But just so you can understand just how spastic I am...You know when you go to a preschool tap class dance recital and the kids have no idea what's going on? They're mostly looking around confused and tapping out of time, if they even move at all. That's how I look trying to do tae-bo. My father was watching me one day and I think if I didn't turn the DVD off he would have gone into cardiac arrest.

Can I just state that this mornings workout kicked my butt? The only motivation I had was not having to report to everyone on this thread what a wimp I was! So I made it through. I did a ton of stretching beforehand, but still cramped up. I think it may have to do with my posture while running, so I'm going to try to stand straighter on my next workout and see if it helps.

After my walking/running intervals and weights, I was sore. But it was good sore.

Now, my weight has been perplexing at best. At my mom's house, I weighed 150 exactly. But DH got the new Wii Fit, and we were checking that out last night. According to the Wii Fit, I weighed 146.5? And, this thing is supposed to be accurate. I'm not sure which reading to go by, because my mom's scale is also digital. And the Wii Fit indicated that my BMI was only slightly over what it should be, which is good news for me. Even more motivation to lose 5 more pounds.

Ah well. So that was my day.:thumbsup2

Evening everyone! Hope everyone's day was great! I went to work (THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!!!) and have one more day tomorrow for a work day! My little boy gets to come with me so I'm happy! Anyways, I went to workout tonight and did a great workout, including 4 rounds of 2 min. jobs. I

Pajules- We have the Food Network at the YMCA where I workout too...cool huh?? And I do the same thing...I do elliptical then treadmill to help the time fly! I might add the bike later on! Also, bring back some great tips about nutrition after your meeting with the nutritionist...popcorn:: I am excitedly awaiting to hear more about that!!

Tarzan-I want a WiiFit! We just bought a Wii a few days ago (actually I bought it for the church day camp I direct but when it's not being used, I bring it home...hehe...nice perk...anyways, how do you like the Wii Fit??? Is it a really good workout??? Is it hard?? What kind of things can you do on it??

DisneyDreamin- Where did you buy your workout clothes?? I need some badly but I want to wait till I lose some weight...guess that kinda defeats the purpose, huh?? HA!

Tink- Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow! You can count me as weighing in on your excel sheet since I weighed in on Monday 199...you can count as my Friday weigh in if you want!

By the way, how do you do that quoting of just parts of peoples' posts??? I can quote but it does the whole dern post instead of parts...I'm stumped! :confused3

Well...I better get to bed...I'm beat...work, gym, cleaned house all night(YUCK) and now bed...finally!! Nite guys!

I hit up Old Navy. They had $10 sweatpants (I really REALLY like theirs a lot they're really soft and comfy) and I got SR credit back for the purchase. This is OT but Torrid also had clearance 50% off so I got 2 new pairs of jeans in a smaller size and I only paid $37 for them with shipping! I have been up since 3:30 am btw lol.

Hiya Tink!

I saw your post on the Tagless/Fomerly Tagless thread and decided to pop in and say hello.

I have about 50 pounds to lose yet so I would love to be a part of what you are doing here. Especially since my Biggest Loser thread is winding down.

I always helps to have support!

Mary

Morning all! Ok, so first and foremost:

Today's Weigh-in was....

201.8!

Yay! So I'm down 2lbs this week and satisfied with that.

The first week for me is always the hardest and then I start to get into the swing of things. Two pounds per week also seems pretty average for me so that tells me I'm spot on. :thumbsup2

I start my gym program bright and early tomorrow morning, so I'm pretty hopeful that that will help me get below 200 by next week's weigh-in.

How did everyone else do that might be using today to weigh in?

I am not weighing in, I've decided. I am going to wait until after the wedding, I can't obsess over my weight before, it will just add to my stress. I am donig healthier eating though and I really like this thread, it's very helpful.

I like good sore. :thumbsup2

I would just choose one and only weigh yourself on that one. It's going to be hard to find two scales that agree, so I only use the one at home (a digital WW type).

Let me know if you want me to add you on the spreadsheet. I know you're not looking to lose a ton of weight but it might be interesting to see how it fluctuates. It's up to you, let me know - and let me know which weight you want me to use.

You can count me as weighing in on your excel sheet since I weighed in on Monday 199...you can count as my Friday weigh in if you want!

Will do!

By the way, how do you do that quoting of just parts of peoples' posts??? I can quote but it does the whole dern post instead of parts...I'm stumped! :confused3

When you quote, just delete the part of the post you don't want to include. Just make sure you don't lose/delete the parts that say: quote=person's screenname + some random # or /quote or the brackets surrounding that text.

This is OT but Torrid also had clearance 50% off so I got 2 new pairs of jeans in a smaller size and I only paid $37 for them with shipping!

I think it's totally on topic! I used to love Torrid, but fortunately AND unfortunately I can't shop for tops there anymore. They're all too big. And the bottoms have started fitting me funny. I've recently discovered, though, that I'm fitting pretty well into clothes from NY&Co. so that's been my go-to for summer clothes so far.

I saw your post on the Tagless/Fomerly Tagless thread and decided to pop in and say hello.

Hey Mary! Welcome! :wave2: We're happy you're joining us! Let me know if you'd like me to add you to the weight tracking sheet. You certainly don't have to but I wanted to offer. I weigh in on Fridays but if you do on another day, just let me know.

:flower3:

Tink, congrats on the weigh-in! Looks like you're starting to hit a good stride.

I wish I could be as disciplined as you are about eating habits. See, take you and me and we'd make the perfect weight-loss gal. You do a good job with diet, I do a good job with working out. :lmao:

Speaking of which, I did work out this morning and upped the quotient for two of my running intervals. I didn't cramp up until the very end and not as severely, so I think it is posture/stretching related, and also how tired I am. So today for those two intervals I ran faster than before and it actually felt much better than the jogging run I'd been doing. Although by the end, I was ready for it to be over.:confused3

Ah well, we build it up little by little.:thumbsup2

201.8!

Congrats!!!!

According to my nutritionist losing 1-2 lbs a week is a good goal if you want to keep the weight off. People who lose large amounts of weight quickly are more likely to gain it back because they are making drastic changes to their diet and exercise. That's why so many people yo-yo diet.

As for my meeting with my nutritionist, it went well. Basically I need to eat more fruit and dairy than what I was and cut down on the carbs, which are my vice. I'm also eating more frequently to get my metabolism up. I pretty much eat 6 times a day.

For example, Breakfast:
2 - Starches = a cup of Kashi cereal or 2 slices of whole wheat bread
1 - Dairy = 1 cup of skim milk or 1/2 cup of 1% milk or a small yogurt
2 - fruit = 2 pieces of fruit, small banana, 1 1/2 cups of strawberries or an apple

(I'm going to ask at my next meeting on tuesday if juice counts as a fruit)

The confusing part so far for me has been that cheese is considered a protein and not a dairy and nuts are a fat and not protein:confused3

Saturday was my first day and it was not good because I went to a food and wine festival...not sure I can count sampling wine as a snack :headache: But today was much better and I feel full.

As for my weigh in, I maintained from my previous weight, but was down in inches again...I have to weigh in on Tuesday so I will let you know if anything changes.

Oh, I just wanted to add I haven't had a chance to really use the WiiFit yet, but when I do I'll post about it! :goodvibes

We left for a Memorial Day Campout, last Thursday and just got home today. Tink...if you are keeping track, I did weigh in the morning we left and weighed: 137 lbs. ( no loss for me last week).

We had soo much fun this weekend...it was our 30 yr. camp-out anniv(going with the same couples).......yes, do the math, we are definantly getting old.
Had great food and lots of booze, so I'm not looking forward to hopping back on the scales tomorrow morning. But, no matter what the numbers say...it's back to my diet and exercise!

Mind if I join? I was her fall 2006 and lost 40 lbs before going on a Disney Christmas Cruise, then lost about 5 more lbs. I kept it off til this last Christmas and I've put on 12 lbs since. We are going to Disney this October for MNSSHP, my goal is to lose those 12 lbs and 8 more. This place was a great last time and I'm hoping it gets me and keeps me going this time too!

Back Story: Lost 75 lbs a few years ago doing WW (high weight was 275!) but have packed on 15 lbs since then and need to get back to ONEderland!

Last year around this time I also had my gallbladder removed and had some complications with that. I really feel like it is also inhibiting my weight loss (can't digest fats??). VERY hard to lose weight.

I am an avid exerciser and finally getting back into running after all the medical stuff from last year. I am running 3 miles every other day and do weights/yoga on the off days. I am going to run another half-marathon at the end of the year as my big exercise goal (and probably the Princess Marathon in March).

Ooops, forgot to formally introduce myself....I got too busy last week packing for the weekend.....

Kids: 1 son, 21yrs old, will start his 4th yr. of college this fall!

meds since the age of 13. Had half of my thyroid removed
May 2007. 2 1/2 yrs ago, my highest weight was 192lbs.
Went back to WW and lost 52 lbs. This past winter...I
gained a few back...up to 145 lbs. Started counting WW
pts. again and working out 6 days a week....thus am down
to my current weight.
Problem areas: I need lots of toning....to many wrinkles and too much flab...
even for an old fart, like me!
Disney goals: 1.) Lose 6 more pounds and tone up before Sept.
2.) Quit smoking before our 9-20-08 WDW trip!

Glad to meet ya all........diet buddies are the best support!!!

I wish I could be as disciplined as you are about eating habits. See, take you and me and we'd make the perfect weight-loss gal. You do a good job with diet, I do a good job with working out.

Seriously, I'll eat for you if you'll go to the gym for me.

According to my nutritionist losing 1-2 lbs a week is a good goal if you want to keep the weight off.

WW also says this as well. And it does work. My parents each lost 60lbs and kept most of it off for a long time.

Basically I need to eat more fruit and dairy than what I was and cut down on the carbs, which are my vice.

I sooooo hear you on that one, my friend.

(I'm going to ask at my next meeting on tuesday if juice counts as a fruit)

As long as it's 100% fruit juice (eg. Tropicana Pure Premium oj) then it should. Usually every 4oz. counts as one serving of fruit (through WW anyway), but it MUST be 100% juice. For example, the "Light" Tropicana juice wouldn't count because it is not 100% and has additives to keep the calories down.

The confusing part so far for me has been that cheese is considered a protein and not a dairy and nuts are a fat and not protein:confused3

This is confusing - the nut thing I understand, just think about it in terms of peanut butter. In reality, the fat content pretty much negates the protein content in most nuts, even though they can be an excellent source of protein. The cheese thing I just don't get. I've always heard of it counting as dairy.

As for my weigh in, I maintained from my previous weight, but was down in inches again.

:yay:

Oh, I just wanted to add I haven't had a chance to really use the WiiFit yet, but when I do I'll post about it! :goodvibes

Please do! I'm curious.

Tink...if you are keeping track, I did weigh in the morning we left and weighed: 137 lbs. ( no loss for me last week).

Duly noted and recorded. :thumbsup2

Mind if I join?
I would also love to join you ladies!
Come on in, the water's fine! :goodvibes

Seriously, I'm pretty sure Tink would say all are welcome. We're all here to offer support, so welcome to our happy little group.

What she said. ::yes:: ALL are welcome!!!

I'll be happy to track your stats for you, just let me know as you weigh in. I do it on Fridays but you're welcome to do it whenever. Every once in a while I'll let everyone know how we're doing as a group. I haven't gotten a chance to add everyone's goal weights to the spreadsheets but will ASAP.

need to get back to ONEderland!

ONEderland. I love it! That's my current hope for this week but real life has intruded and I think I may need to wait one more week for that.

Last year around this time I also had my gallbladder removed and had some complications with that. I really feel like it is also inhibiting my weight loss (can't digest fats??). VERY hard to lose weight.

A good friend of mine went through the same thing so I know what you're going through. It's tough but you can do it! You'll find what works best for you.

Quit smoking before our 9-20-08 WDW trip!

In addition to your nutrition goals I think it's wonderful that you listed this! I have a soft spot for people who are trying to quit because I lost my grandmother far too early to lung cancer. Best of luck with this, it CAN be done! I know two people who've quit in the past few years successfully - one quit cold turkey (after finding out she had breast cancer and that a smoking habit could kill her) and the other quit over time for his two little girls.

I just wanted to stop in and say hi to y'all. I've had a very tough week (personally) and it likely won't get better until maybe early next week. I may be sparse for a bit but keep this thread going! New subscribers are all welcome! I'll be here to weigh in on Friday, regardless (and I might gain a little back this week with all the stress) but I just don't want you to think you've been abandoned.

Best of luck and I hope you're all having a healthy week!

Discovered a tasty summer treat today that's pretty low in calories. It's a Starbucks Shaken Passion Tea Lemonade. It's sweet and tangy and just plain refreshing. It's good enough that it doesn't require any sweetener. For a small (Tall) it's only 100 calories, no fat. I believe the medium (Grande) is 130 calories.

Just a tip for a treat!

:hyper:

I've been out of town a couple of days and forgot to give you my results for my tuesday weigh in...4lbs....which puts me at 228.

Now, this may all change today (friday) when I go in for my next weigh in later this morning. I've been at the beach for the last 3 days visiting my college roommate and her family. I tried to stick to the program, but "slipped" a few times, especially at night when we would sit on the porch talking and drinking wine. :) I didn't go hog wild, but I did have 2 or 3 glasses both nights I was there.

I think I'm going to wait until after today's weigh in to change my ticker...just in case.

Also, interesting note I learned at last meeting about ice cream. Nutritionist warned about Skinny Cow ice cream. She says while it's lower in fat and better for you than regular ice cream some of them have a lot of sugar. She said it's better to look for a light or low fat sugar-free ice cream and of course serving size is key. She also says there's a brand of fudgicles on the market that only has 40 calories for popcicle.....I think I may have to look for these!

I'm glad there are lots of people joining in...the more the merrier!
